My original venue was no curfew and no restrictions on anything.  I know they have had some people travel from NYC to have their wedding there.  I don’t know if it is too far for your or not since it is between Lancaster and York.  It’s Lauxmont Farms and they have 4 different locations on the farm (which is huge you wouldn’t be seeing any of the other locations/weddings on your day.  It is really gorgeous.  I am super sad we aren’t getting married there anymore (we are eloping now)

edit: and the owner also has a huge selection of antique furniture and decor that she will let you rent for your day.  She has some really beautiful stuff.  We were going to use one of the antique dressers as our cake table and then she had antique sofas for seating outside on the cobblestone under the bistro lights, it is so pretty.

tgrbnny:  I went to a formal rustic wedding at Bally Spring Inn and it was gorgeous!  I’m not sure what the venue cost was, but the bride said it was reasonable for the area.  I can ask her for vendor recommendations too – the food was great, her flowers were beautiful, and her photog was amazing!

ETA: She had a full open bar (I think it was through the venue/caterer), the reception went until 12, I believe, and they had an afterparty bonfire outside late into the night.  It was a great time!

Have you looked into the Inn at Barley Sheaf? It may be what you’re looking for. We are getting married in PA as well, but in Philly so some vendors may not travel as far.

Cairnwood Estate? I’m not sure what their prices are now but they were reasonable three years ago!

tgrbnny:  Sure! We the venue April 2014 for a June 2015 wedding. We quoted 100-120 people and did a Friday wedding. It was cheaper per person to have a Friday wedding and also I think the Saturday guest minimum was 150 people.

We got married outside in their courtyard, which was gorgeous, had the cocktail party in the that courtyard as well. Then the reception in the large room…then at 11 pm had everyone move out to the “old barn” to party some more! They have a bartender who will serve everyone for the after party. I did a shuttle service for guests (the ones who didnt stay at Holly Hedge) and they left from 12 midnight on.

It was all pretty amazing! Here’s some shots so you can get an idea of the venue’s natural beauty:

tgrbnny:  I know you said you looked into places catered by JAM and it was a deal breaker. I do want to say though, I’m getting married at the John James Audubon Center, one of their venues, and it is absolutely NOT $250 a plate. And the food is incredible. The grounds are also gorgeous, and it seems to be exactly what you’re looking for.

If that’s still a deal breaker though, I’d check out Holly Hedge Estate, which I know was mentioned, as well as the Rose Bank Winery in Newtown. They’re both beautiful, and I know people who’ve been married at each.

tgrbnny:  Unfortunately, I don’t. I ended up choosing something right in Philadelphia.
