So I didn’t want to share these with anyone in my family as I want it to be everyone’s first time hearing them on the wedding day. But I wanted to do a test run of my vows. My Fiance and I will be writing our own vows in addition to the traditional “I promise to be true to you, etc” ones. Please let me know what you think. Too long, too short, don’t understand it, etc…
“When I first sat down to write my vows, I found my self struggling to find a poetic beginning. I’d start a sentence, then quickly erase it. The right words didn’t come because I was forcing them to be perfect. I got so frustrated. But then I reminded myself that perfection is boring. Perfection is rigid. And some may even argue, that perfection is unattainable. So I stand here before you today proclaiming that I don’t expect this marriage to be perfect. And honestly, nor do I want it to be. Instead, I welcome a lifetime of adventure. One with spontanaety, one with passion, and one with more laughter than either of us can handle. Yes, there will be hardships. But with them will be support, understanding, and most of all–eternal love. I promise that everyday I will strive to be the best “us” we can be. Life is a balancing act. And if life were perfect, one would never fall. But I want to fall into your arms everynight and you into mine. So there’s no one I’d rather share my imperfections with than you. Je t’aime. I love you”
*Note, Je t’aime is “i love you” in french and kinda a thing we do.
What do you guys think??
