we also used iWeb and love it! it’s so easy to manipulate and customize. everything is just drag and drop into a template. i highly recommend it if you have a mac. the software is comparatively less expensive than a lot of the other wedding specific sites out there.

http://www.weddingwire.com is COMPLETELY free (but no ads on your page) and has tons of great resources. It is web 2.0 friendly with google map interfaces, links to Kayak for travel reservations, weather plug-ins for your location, plus it has a whole dashboard for brides to use, including:

– guest list database with address, invitation, RSVP, gift, seating and thank you status

– "binder" of pictures, documents, online articles and other things you want to digitally cut & paste for ideas

– graphical seating map where you can draw table & chairs around a room with sizes that you specify and then label & place your guests accordingly

– you can export all of this to printed tables or excel for easy use with other applications or just for simpler reading

– it also has a slideshow tool, guest RSVP tool, all the staples that you would expect

Keep in mind that it is completely free because the vendors are advertising to brides, but not on your site. So if you don’t want to be hasseled by vendors advertising things to you just check off "already selected vendor" during the registration process when it asks you to fill out your wedding planning process. It’s a great tool so far and I can’t say enough about it. It needs to start getting traction for more brides to use to stay alive so pass the word on!! 🙂

I suggest your try http://www.sharedweddings.com
We’ve been using it for a while now and 1) its FREE and 2) its so easy to use – I have never made a website before and I found  it really easy to use. They have a good set of website themes to choose from and you also got a few very useful wedding planning tools included. Has anyone else tried this one?

Weddingtracker.com — you get a 1/2 of discount through the Knot so it is only $30 for the year.  Not only is it a website, but it also organizes and tracks your info for you.  Checkout our site at http://www.christinaanddaryl.com

Another vote for iWeb if you are a Mac user.  Extremely easy to build (they have a variety of templates built in, including a wedding specific template, also have blog pages, etc).  I’m hosting it through iMac, and I purchased a vanity domain from Go Daddy.

The main reason though:  I like the fact that our "wedding" website can evolve to a family website fairly easily.  What I didn’t like about all the wedding website vendors is that I was locked into the "wedding" format, and it was only good for a year.  The way I’ve done it, we’ve got the domain, it won’t change, so our family and friends don’t need to be updated a year from now that our home on the web has moved.

I guess the only drawback is that there is no RSVP feature built in.  But there are separate programs that you can buy and embed into your website with iWeb.   This wasn’t a big deal for us because we are having a very small (<20 guests) wedding.

PM me if you’d like a link to see the results.
