- Wedding: August 2013
My fiancee and I are getting married this summer and are just finishing up our wedding website. The wedding is about 4 hours away for 95% of the guest…all 25 of them…haha small wedding.. the wedding ceremony and reception are at a winery and the after party is at my parent’s cottage. We put together a FAQ like section on our website to answer as many questions as possible. Do you think anything is missing? Should we add anything else? Take something out?
Thank you sooooooo much!!
Where it says click here, or click on the map, it links to google maps with pinned points or to another place in the website.
Where exactly are we going and where are all these places? We’re at the very end of the 401, in the west end of Ontario. Click here for the map.
I’ve never been to Amherstburg, is there anything special to see? There are a few historical sites and some restaurants, check them out on this map.
What should we wear? To the ceremony and reception wear what you feel comfortable in, something between semi-formal and casual would be appropriate.
At the Gaidies’ Lake House wear your bathing suit, your monkey suit, a cocktail dress, a wet suit, whatever you want!
What should we bring?Water shoes will be a must-have if you plan on going in the lake. There’s some sandy parts and there’s some rocky parts, and the rocky parts can be really painful. Also, bring your bathing suit, towels, beach blanket, sun hat, sun screen, and bug spray for the evening. There’s quite a few patio chairs at the cottage, and some muskoka chairs, but if you have a chair that’s easy to bring you may want to bring it with you to secure a seat.
Bring your favourite book, some magazines, your guitar, tambourine, or kazoo. Bring a fun game, a beach ball, your water gun, and some sand pails and shovels to make a sand castle.
Due to the amount of food we’ll have in the fridge, a cooler full of ice will be really helpful. Bring your drinks; glass bottles are fine, just be careful.
Once we have a better idea of how many people we will have at the cottage and on what days we’ll figure out what people can bring for food.
If you’re going to be staying at the Gaidies’ Lake House the bride will let you know if you need to bring any bedding/pillows.
Want to pick stuff up when you get here or forgot something? Check out this map that lists all the places you would need to go.
Who’s going to be there? It’s a pretty small guest list of only 25 people, chances are you’ll know quite a few of the guests.
What time should I arrive? For the wedding, the ceremony will start at 11:00am so please arrive by 10:45am. If you’re showing up sometime on Thursday or Friday come when you want, just let us know ahead of time when we should be expecting you.
Where will I park? Sprucewood Shores has plenty of parking, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a spot. The Gaidies’ Lake House has a driveway that can accommodate 3 or 4 cars. Parking is also available on the side of the road. Make sure you pull in as much as possible off the road, it’s not very wide, but it doesn’t see heavy traffic.
Where should I stay? There’s lots of options for you to choose from, click here. There’s even more options in Windsor which is about a 30 minute drive from Amherstburg.
Will there be food? The ceremony will be followed by the reception which will include lunch. We’re not sure of the menu yet, but we’ll try and make sure it’s delicious. We’ll keep food as simple as possible at the cottage (BBQs, cold salads, meat, cheese, fruits, vegetables, and snacks) and let people know what they can bring closer to the date.
I have food allergies. If you have any allergies let either of us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
More importantly, will there be drinks? We’re going to be at a winery, so obviously there’ll be wine! If you’re not a wine fan, you’ll need to wait to the after party for your drinks because Sprucewood only serves wine. There will be bottles of wine available on each table and you’re welcome to purchase additional glasses or bottles at the bar.
What happens if the weather is real bad? After we have a good cry we’ll suck it up and get on with the show! The ceremony can be moved inside if the weather is bad. The Gaidies’ Lake House isn’t big enough to hold all of the guests comfortably, but there’s a small covered area outside and a gazebo canopy.
Is there a gift registry? There won’t be a registry and gifts are not required. Your presence is present enough!
Do you need help? Can I donate my services? Would you like to play something beautiful, do a reading, or write a poem for the ceremony? Would you like to bake the cake? Are a you a BBQ master? Do you know how to do floral arrangements? Are you an early riser and want to help decorate the ceremony and reception site? Have an ipod and want to make a playlist of good tunes for the after party? Do you have some photography or videography skills? We would love for you to take part! Tell us what you’re interested in! But if you want to come and just enjoy and surround us with your love and support that’s pretty awesome too!
