So we’ve got a website through weddingwire.com. I wanted to see how many people were checking it so on the day I mailed the STD, I set the view counter to 0. It’s been a week and the website has been viewed more than 400 times. We only sent out about 60 STD’s.
So my question is this – what is the privacy on these things? I’m fine if people go to weddingwire.com and search my name or FI’s name and get the site. But can just random people search random wedding websites? I’ve searched for privacy settings but can’t find any.
No, I didn’t password protect (didn’t want to) and STD’s already went out so I can’t change the address.

I’m not sure about weddingwire sites, but that counter may be counting crawlers that search the web indexing it as well as multiple page views.
Google Analytics is much more accurate, if WeddingWire allows you a way to install that (it’s free, you can just google to see if there is info on how to do it).
For example, I used Weebly and they show 65 page views for October 23rd. But Google Analytics shows 4 visitors with a total of 23 page views. I can see the exact breakdown of those 4 – what cities they came from, if they are repeat visitors, how many pages within the website they looked at, the order they visited pages in, how long they spent on the site, etc.
I’m not sure why those free counters are so high (other than the crawlers and the mult-page views), but they are quite inaccurate or at the very least misleading.

I know my counter actually counts my own visits when I’m not logged into the site- that may have a bit to do with it too?
