Anyone have advice on using wedding websites for information traditionally delivered in paper form? We’re thinking of doing an online RSVP but we are concerned it is a little too unconventional for the older guests. Anyone have any experience with this?

We considered using our website for RSVPs but decided that it would inconvenience some of our guests, which would really only make it more stressful for us (because we would have to track down grandma and grandpa’s RSVP since they don’t even own a computer).
We did postcards instead. The postage is cheaper, so you save a little money as opposed to an envelope and enclosure.

We thought about it after e-mailing out Save-The-Date Cards, but in the end decided it would be too much work for us. Instead, we chose to design our own RSVPs that I absolutely love. They’re super unique, and I think the guests will get a kick out of them. However, if you have a smaller wedding, and you think most of your guests are internet-savvy, I say go for it! It’s a great way to save money and the environment, plus – you could always ask family members who are close to your older family members (like grandparents) to ask them if they’re attending. 🙂 Good luck!

We did online RSVPs and it turned out really well; even my 84 year old great aunt RSVP’ed online! We did put our telephone number in the invite, as an alternative to the online response, but only two of our guests chose that option. If you do online RSVPs, I think it’s nice to provide an alternative means of response as well, but most people will probably appreciate the convenience of online RSVPs. Good luck!

Thanks for all of your wonderful responses! I’m new to Weddingbee and I just can’t get over how helpful these forums are.
I am also humbled by all of your sweet comments on our website!! I am a designer so our invitations, save the dates and websites are something I am really looking forward to creating! Our STD’s are at the printer and I’ll be sharing those with everyone shortly!
Both our wedding website and my blog are run on WordPress.org, which allows you to have more freedom to edit themes. There are thousands and thousands to browse through which saved me the time it would take to built it myself. If you have any specific questions I’d be happy to help you out!
