Hello everyone, so I am American and my fiance is Mexican. We are going to have 2 weddings, one here for my side and one in Mexico for his side..any suggestions when it comes to the wedding in mexico? It will just be me, my mom and a friend going to mexico where no one speaks english except my fiance and his siblings, I speak spanish but not prefect at it. Any suggestions how to make it feel less awkward for my mom? I want everyone to have a good time and not feel left out.

@Inzie09: I’m sure your fiance is aware of the fact that there will be a language barrier, but just remind him that he needs to play the host for the duration of the trip. I had a friend who was chinese have a small wedding (30 people?). 1/3 of the people there spoke only chinese and everyone else spoke only english. The bride spoke both (English was her second language, but she has lived in the US for a couple years) so she spent most of the time entertaining her family. The little bit of chinese her Fiance learned before the wedding earned him a lot of points (at least thats what it looked like, I couldn’t understand the conversations lol). So just practise your spanish and I’m sure everyone will know that all the parties involved are doing the best they can.
