- Wedding: June 2011
So today I’ve been thinking long and hard about possibly having a wedding wish tree instead of a guestbook.
I think they look very pretty & elegant. I’ve always kind of been partial to having a crystal tree at the wedding but put that aside due to it costing an arm and a leg most likely!
Anyway, so if we were to have a wedding wish tree at our reception, I wanted to put a little “spin” on it. A couple that we know in our city creates metal art. They’re BEAUTIFUL, gorgeous pieces and this particular couple has become very important to us over the last 2yrs (one of the many amazing things they’ve done for us is they created a fundraiser to buy my paralyzed fiance a $4000 handcycle as a surprise for us! AMAZING people!) ANYWAY, I saw some photos from their sons wedding this past weekend and they had created a HUGE metal tree in which (from what I can tell from the photos) they had people sign as their guestbook (‘carving their names into the tree’ — how cute!). So, I was brainstorming and I thought it would be amazing if I could enlist the help of this couple (and pay them, of course!) to create a metal tree that would be on display at the reception. And then when people are done filling out their wish cards, they could hang them from the metal tree! Would make for pretty pics. And then after the recpetion is over, we’d save all the wishes and put them into a scrap book and then put the tree as decoration in our backyard!
The only thing is…how on earth would a person get a large metal tree up about 20 friggin stairs to where our reception is? There IS an elevator but I’m not sure how big it is. Anyway, this is all just brainstorming for now. Just wanted to know what everyone thought of the metal tree/wish card idea!
