Our wedding is May 18. Two weeks ago I was in a freak accident where I ended up pinned between my car and a building while supervising a car wash. I have spent the past 2 weeks in the hospital. I have a broken pelvis and will be off work/driving for 12weeks. I am rapidly improving with the walker, but I can’t bear weight on the left for a good 6weeks til the bones fuse together.
To say that my hospital stay has been bad would be an extreme understatement. At 26, I’m lucky this has been my first visit.
The dress buying trip was scheduled for July, along with our engagement pictures. I have had to cancel both with hopes of being mobile enough and unbruised come labor day.
I’m a planner to the max, and none of this was part of the plan. I worry that I will be rushed with ordering my dress and that some bruises won’t fade.
I know things could have ended differently, but it’s still frustrating.

@oandm: I am so sorry to hear this ! Believe me, I am 23, and while I did not have wedding planning activities to do this summer, I recently got out of the hospital beacuse of a “freak” medical condition (no reason why it happened to me, nothing I could have done to prevent it) and I”m still not 100%, but I have to make up all this work for my graduate program so I can still graduate in 8 weeks and move to be with SO. It’s so hard when this wasn’t the plan. I was stressed about my plan even BEFORE things got screwed up. I know it’s hard, but try to focus on relaxing, no stress, being in the hospital really puts things in perspective in terms of importance, it’s just hard when it wasn’t in the “plan,” which I totally understand. But if anything, be glad your wedding is not this summer <3

I’m so sorry this happened! I’m a planner too and I totally understand how having a wrench thrown in things can make it feel like nothing is going to work. i would relax about the dress. Even if you order in September thats 8 months to get it in, and that shouldn’t be a problem. I would do some research online so you don’t walk into your dress appointments with no ideas, but I really really doubt this would be a problem. As for bruises and engagement pictures, remember photo editing can work wonders. Call your photographer, tell them you are worried and ask if they can edit any remaining bruising out of the photos. If they are good this shouldn’t be a problem.
Look at this as a chance to read as many wedding magazines as you want, play on weddingbee, and plan to your hearts content- if you can’t move around you might as well be online right! lol.
Anyway I hope you feel better and everything heals well, and that all your planning works out.

I just got the call that my ring can’t be saved. The jeweler said the setting is too bent. She’s contacting the maker to see if they can do another, but the style is discontinued. All of the diamonds are okay, but as if anything else could go wrong.
