daisybee90:  you are so lucky to be able to go into a jewelery store and try on rings that actually fit! Size 7 is average which is why it’s a standard size for jewelry stores to carry.

I’m a 5.75 in the winter and a 6 in the summer but all my rings are a size 6. I wasn’t always like that though..I used to be a size 10.

mrssloan2013:  Oh yes! I could not agree with you more. I know I need to get the beads put in. (Or a bar … or whatever my jeweler can do for me) I’m thinking I’ll eventually have to have it resized, but I want to wait until I see if I can reach my weight loss goal, as well as how that will affect my ring size. With the invisibly set stones on the band and shoulders, I don’t want to take the metal up and down too many times. :/

It’s terrible because I’ve been saying for at least a month that I need to go by there to see about getting the beads put into my ring. But life stuff keeps coming up unexpectedly, which causes me to put it off again and again. I  haven’t been wearing my ring as much. Just my wedding band, which is also too big (at a size 8), but doesn’t seem as much like it will slip off my finger. (Maybe because it’s a band and not top-heavy like my ring?)

I have got to go this next week to see about it, though. I can’t keep on putting it off, because I am afraid of losing my ring. =(

HopefulCatlover:  You should consider region. For example, a rural midwestern town with people from mostly a German background (similar to where i grew up), you’re probably going to see a higher average size. Simply because midwesterners tend to be heavier, rural areas tend to be heavier overall, and people of German descent tend to be tall and have larger builds.

On the other hand a small urban area that is predominately Asian will probably have a way smaller average ring size since typically Asian populations are not overweight, and have naturally petite builds.

    (ETA: I’m a 5.5)

I said an 8 because my ring is a 7 3/4, which is pretty loose. I am 5’7″ and an average weight with fairly long fingers. My Fiance calls my hands “working hands” and I have had people comment on how large my fingers are.

swonderful:  Interesting point. I need there to be a map infographic of average ring size now!

I’m a 5 even. Interestingly, I’m very curvy and short, but I have the long thin fingers and toes of a tall skinny person. People always said I had the fingers of a pianist, too bad I never had the patience for piano lol.

I  am a 6.5 but voted 7.  I feel ike it ia pretty normal size.  I can generally try on rings in stores and have them fit, so I think it is pretty average.

The poll is helpful for general distribution. My jeweler recommended size 4.25, but I went with 4.5 to give my finger more wiggle room. I voted 4 though. It would be interesting to see the sizes broken down further by halves or quarters.

HopefulCatlover:  I’m a size 3.  I was a size 4 in high school but for some reason I got smaller as I got older, except for my waistline.

Size 8 here, but I probably could’ve gone down to a 7.75. I just don’t like things being too tight on my fingers, but in cold weather my rings slide all over the place. I, too,  feel like size 8 isn’t terribly common ’round these parts.
