This is my warning to anyone who is interested in or plans to buy their shoes online. I was not happy with my original ones and decided I’d like to get a new pair for my upcoming wedding. So I happened upon a website called http://www.weddingpartyshoes.com. I ordered the shoes for what seemed like a killer deal. That was last Thursday. The money immediately left my account, but there was no detail or information about when they would be shipped and the order information failed to show a tracking number.
To find out what was going on, I called and sent emails to the “company.” First of all, when you call you always get a voice recording that says “customer service agents are either on the phone with other customers or out of the office.” Everytime! All I could do was leave messages. I also sent several emails – maybe five before I finally received a response via email saying that it’s common for a tracking number to not be availabe and that often it never shows up until the shoes have been shipped.
In the meantime, I began doing the research I should’ve done before placing the order, and found that there had been four complaints filed with the BBB against the company for issues including no prompt delivery, and unreliable customer service.
Yesterday, one day shy of a week since placing my order, I checked with a more reputable online vendor and found that it had one last shoe in my size and color available. Not knowing how things would turn out with weddingpartyshoes.com, I went ahead and placed the order with the reliable vendor. Hours later, I received a tracking number and they were shipped out that same day.
After a continued lack of response from weddingpartyshoes.com, I filed a complaint with my bank, with the BBB and also sent an email to request a full refund of my money.
Here’s the icing on the cake: Today, a week since my order, I received a prompt response from the company saying that my money would be refunded and that the reason there was no tracking number is that the vendor was out of stock of my size and color. Really? Why was I able to order the very same shoe almost a week later from another online vendor. And why did I not get this information until AFTER I cancelled my order?
What really gets me though is that I would not have known this bogus reason for me not getting my shoes if I did not take steps to remedy the situation and get my money back. Let this be your warning if you happen upon http://www.weddingpartyshoes.com. Do not order from them even if it appears their prices are more reasonable!
I have filed a complaint with BBB (which will make a total of five against this company in a short amount of time).
