I totally get why you’re frustrated and I agree— it sucks! But, I don’t think that you should say anything to them. I think 6 weeks is a respectable “grace period” between weddings and I don’t think that just because one couple gets engaged first means they should get married first. Their engagement does seem kind of short, but if it makes them happy…. meh. At least you’ve already told all your bridal party/guests about your wedding right? They all knew about yours first so if anything they should plan their obligations accordingly (i.e. if they don’t have the money to be in 2 weddings, they’ve already committed to yours).

I think 6 weeks is fine. Really, it still stinks that they’re doing it before yours and you still might want to say something (I would) but… it kinda all goes back to that thing that you have a day. Not a month, or a half of a year. But… man, I totally feel ya. I’m the first of my friends to get married so I don’t have that problem.

I think it’s a good amount of time to have in between.  I wouldn’t mention it either, they probably selected their date for their own reasons without thinking of yours, which I think most couples do.

I totally understand where you’re coming from as I would feel the same way.  However I’m thinking that since he thought there was nothing wrong with proposing to his gf at your fiance’s surprise party (talk about stealing someone’s thunder) I doubt he even realizes that you would be upset about their date.  I would just keep quiet and let it be, nothing to ruin friendships over or make for ill tension at your weddings.  I’m sure come the fall you won’t even be thinking about it.
