I have shoes on the brain since my wedding dress is in and now I have to think about this before going for alternations!
We’re having an outdoor wedding reception in a rural setting so I was thinking that wedges are probably the way forward. At first I was super committed to TOMS but the ones I wanted that go best with our color palette…
…can only be found on Asian counterfeit websites. Grrr. Kind of kills the point of TOMS if small children in sweatshops are making the shoes!
I do think this is a cute pin from Pinterest of a bride and her BMs all in strappy TOMS but I am back and forth on the cork wedges. Are they fancy enough?
I really love the mission of TOMS! Plus I think the shoes are super comfy – I have a hot pink pair (like the baby blue ones above) and a blue and white ikat print strappy pair (below) but the print goes all the way through the wedge & doesn’t stop at the strap.
I know they’ll hold up for sure through a dancetastic wedding reception since I pretty much lived in my TOMS last summer. I just wish that strappy TOMS came in more colors with the fabric covering the wedge. I’m uninspired by any of the styles I see on their website right now.
What would you do? Think of the children and go with TOMS? Or find a fancier looking wedge for the wedding?

@k8: While they may be sold out on their website, there may still be legitimate retailers that have the shoe still in stock.
I would contact them through their website and ask if they can help you locate a retailer with stock.

TOMS are super comfy, right? I’d go with them! And they’re definitely able to be worn again.

@k8: I’m not a fan of Toms, but I bought a fancy wedge for my wedding!

@frommisstomrs.: Ohhh … pretty! What is it/where did you get it?
@k8: I feel like TOMS are all a bit casual (though they are still in the running for my wedding shoes too). I don’t feel like the cork heeled ones are any more casual than the first picture you posted and only slightly more casual than the covered heel strappy ones.

I wore the crochet toms for my wedding, Darling Husband actually called like six shops to find them for me because they were out on the website.

@k8: Toms has some fancy wedding wedges on their web site! I’m thinking of asking my BMs to look at Tom’s ballet flats since they are all 5’4” – 5’6” and I’m 4’11”

@DaniLyn: DSW for 30 bucks!

@frommisstomrs.: those are super cute!
@BrandNewBride: ridiculously comfy! I wore mine everywhere before the weather took a nose dive. Including dressy outdoor events like the KY Derby, charity events & a wedding that I attended as a guest. I also wore them dressed down, they’re amazingly versatile. And the BMs would definitely get more use out of them.
@DaniLyn: you know, you’re right. If we’re getting down to brass tacks, TOMS aren’t really that upscale far as shoes go. But cork bottom wedges – no matter what manufacturer – just feel uber casual to me. I wouldn’t wear them to an event where I was dressing up. The fabric heeled wedges really do look so much better.
@bitsybee: I looked at the wedding styles on the TOMS site but the only wedges are cork bottomed or the petal grosgrain.
I guess I’m not ready to give up on the idea of TOMS just yet even though I don’t love the styles that are presently available!

@k8: I have a hard time with cork for weddings myself as well. Any time I see bm’s in cork wedges I cringe. I got Nina wedges off zappos and they were great. We got married on lawn.

I’m hoping to find the strappy Toms for my reception shoes, but would like to try them on…anyone know any stores that carry them? Tried nordstroms, but they only had the flat ones and the bootie wedges in store.

@cestvrai: our local Journeys has started carrying TOMS, but not sure if they carry the wedges. I have 2 pairs of the wedges, one regular and one strappy. I love them both – they’re super comfortable and just as cute as other non-comfortable shoes!

@Blonde17Jess: Thanks for the tip! I really like the look and think they’d be a really comfortable shoe to change into at the reception. I’ll go and take a look at Journeys!
