So, I just found out the WedPics app is totally FREE now. I’ve been following the development of the app since before it became live. Now that it’s free, I’ll definitely be using it. I want ONE location where guests can share their pics. . . and let’s face it, most people have smartphones these days. This app works for both iPhone and Android users.
Here’s my question. . .
I can download or order cards with our wedding access code and instructions on downloading the app.
WHEN should I let me guests know about the app? Should I include the card with the invitation? Or should I slip it in with the program the day of the wedding? I can also invite people through facebook and email. . .

You know, I was thinking about using this as well, but then I realized that most of the people who will take photos are going to put them on Instagram. So instead, we created a hashtag. Maybe you could do that as well just in case? 🙂

Miss otter, I I were you I would also use a photo collecting app and not only Instagram. Because I guess you want to have the photos so you can print them or save them on your computer in good quality and that you can´t do with Instagram.
I use Photago.com on all my events and will also do on the upcoming wedding. The good thing with Phoatgo is that you can collect all photos from the wedding in one place. Both from smart phones and from digital cameras.
About when to give the guests the info about where you want to collect your photos I think you need to do it several times. I should go for both the invitation and info at the wedding party some where. We used the Photago slide show on my firends wedding and that made people aware of the app and the album which made them upload also their own photos. It is also good to have some close familly and firends that you show how it works so they can help people to start.

@madteaparty: Did you decide how to advertise this for your wedding yet?
I’m looking into using WedPics too now that it’s free! I’m still skeptical that there won’t be a catch somewhere that you have to pay for.
I’m planning on putting a blurb about it on our wedding website and am planning to have info about it on the back side of our escort cards. I was thinking that for anyone who uses a digital camera, hopefully if they have the escort cards they might take it home with them and upload the pics later.

@beeberonibri: I’m thinking of putting an insert into the invitation, so they can download it in advance. . . and I’ll probably put something on our programs, as well. I don’t see the harm in putting it in multiple places, just in case people forget.

madteaparty: I just found this as well. I am so excited that there is a secure feature as well. No one can see the photos unless they have your wedding id. is tht right? I’m puttting cards in the invitiations. and I’ll be having a “photo booth” station with props so people can take their own and post it on the site.
