We’re getting married on a Friday at the courthouse, small reception the next day. On 11.11.11 (also a Friday), we’re having a big reception for family and friends.

We’re getting married on a Thursday evening! I voted that it’s been a huge money-saver, and considering that we are having the ceremony and cocktail hour at a swanky hotel in DC, followed by a sit-down dinner reception at a really nice restaurant, it is definitely costing less than it would on a Saturday night (or Friday night, for that matter)…but it still isn’t cheap!!

We chose to have our wedding on a Friday because the venue that I fell in love with had a food and beverage minimum and could only afford the Friday minimum. It’s working out really well though. No complaints and only a few oot folks that will come any day we set.

I put other… I have no issue with weekday weddings, but many of our guests do and the time on weekdays that our venue is available is less since it operates as a retail shop as well.

we had a sunday afternoon wedding and saved a ton of money! BUT-keep in mind if you have a bartender some of them charge DOUBLE hourly for bartending on a Sunday! luckily that was the ONE thing we did not pay for. πŸ™‚

While I do understand that moneysaver that a weekday wedding can bring, I would dream of having one during the week, even if I could have a reception on another day. It would be TOO difficult for my loved ones to come.

With that being said, I am having my wedding on a Sunday evening as it’s still a moneysaver.

I think I’d do it! But only if you are having a few intimate guests and you give them plenty of time to take the day off πŸ™‚

Having our wedding on a Sunday is saving $1000 compared to Friday and $2250 compared to Saturday, so it was a no brainer for us!

We are getting married on Sunday because I wanted a daytime wedding and you cannot have a conservative Jewish wedding on Saturday before sundown. I don’t think I am saving any money though, as the wedding venue is a private home. Do the other vendors charge different amounts for different days?
