We got married on a Tuesday wedding. The fesitiviites started at 5:30 with the ceremony at 6:30. This is extremely common in my religion so no one really batted an eye. In fact one of my bridesmaids is getting married on a Thursday this June. Anyway, we didn’t do it during the day so people did come after work. And some of the adults did leave after dinner I’m sure but all my bridesmaids, close friends and family stayed all night long and a lot of my sister’s friends and even some of my students (5th graders) showed up to dance after dinner (this is also common in my religion and some people even put this dancing time on an invitation). And yes, the cost of many things went way down and we only had a 4 month engagement and nothing was booked – the wedding was even on Valentine’s Day, but who’s getting married on Valentine’s Day the year it falls out on a Tuesday? Not many people, except me lol.

We are getting married on a Monday, not only was it a whole lot cheaper….. which we realised after the fact, but the Fiance wanted a date of significance to us, and not just some run of the mill date. For us it happened to be the 3rd of December. Its the day we concieved our lil girl 🙂

ours is a wednesday, it is a Destination Wedding so everyone attending will be off work anyway, we wanted it to be mid week as most people will be travelling on the weekend to arrive, then will leave again on the next weekend so we wanted people to only have to take 1 week off if they attend.

I’m interested in this too – mine is on Monday 1st, which is a school holiday (handy for me) and a bank holiday (handy for my FI) – so I suppose it’s like an extension of the weekend.

Though I have found already that things are much much cheaper. Vendors seem very happy to get big business on a slower day.

We are doing a Friday evening for our ceremony – but that is due to religious stipulations – we cannot marry and have the reception on the same day. Well, we can but we fast for our religious ceremonies (no meat, no alcohol), and we’d have a lot more fun at our own reception if we waited one more day.

I got married on a Tuesday. the ceremony was on a beach in Hawaii, and all beaches in Hawaii are public so the planner recommended a weekday so it wouldn’t be as crowded. a weekend beach wedding also would have cost us $200 extra, which if it’s unnecessary to spend, why spend it?

I’d skip the DJ probably – what time is your ceremony/brunch?

Personally, I don’t like weekday weddings, but that’s because I have a regular 9-5 job (well, 6-3, but same idea) Monday – Friday.  It would just be a headache for me to get there on time.  But if this isn’t an issue for your guests, I guess that doesn’t matter.

Going off my own schedule, if I were invited to a brunch/morning wedding on a weekday, I would most likely not go unless it was for someone very close to me.

I am not a huge fan, but if it is a Friday or Sunday wedding it could work. Or, if you have a ton of shift workers it could work too. If you invited me (and I was local), I would do my best to come. It would be easiest if you had a 2 pm wedding and 3:30 start to cocktail hour (before traffic picks up) and to end the reception by 8 or 9 so that I could get back and go to work the next day.
