Say you’re going to a Wednesday wedding at 6pm, and it’s local (less than an hour away… for some people it’s 10 minutes, some 30, and others about an hour), what would you do?
Would you take the next day of work off? Would you leave early? Would you drink alcohol?
We’re doing a Wednesday wedding at 6pm, and I’m trying to figure out if people will leave early or not, and whether or not to spring $1,000 for beer and wine (no bring-yourself options or cash bar or anything like that)
Also wondering if people will stay or leave early at all!
Everyone who is invited are very close friends or semi-close family. A total of 70 people at the most….

Well, I would say “Hell Yeah!”…because Wednesday is my day off and NOTHING fun ever happens on my days off, always on the weekends and i have to ask off 🙁
So I would drink, stay all night and not have to go to work until Thursday night as usual. I guess I don’t count though, as I am the minority!
I think it would be nice to offer the beer and wine option. Even if people choose to leave a bit early or have to work in the morning, some would still like the option of a beer or a nice glass of wine with their meal. Is the other option a dry wedding?

@misschickpea: Haha yes some of our friends are in retail or have flex schedules and it works out better for them than weekends, actually!
Yep… other option is dry = Most of my family won’t really drink anyway. His family drinks more though… and two of my friends (including MOH) are pretty big drinkers. haha
I just don’t want it to go to waste… = Our whole budget is about $10k, so $800 is a lot >_<

This would really depend on your job. Also, if it is local, I wouldn’t book accommodation, so it would depend on how much a taxi would be as to whether I would drink or not.
Example: 10 minutes drive away = drink, taxi home, work the next day.
30 minutes drive away plus = don’t drink or have one with dinner, drive home at a reasonable hour (midnight, say), work the next day.
Of course, it also depends on whether I could get Thursday off, but I don’t think it would be likely for me.
