Has anyone gained weight before their big day? I can’t even believe this has happened to me, but it’s true… I gained a good 15 to 20 pounds since I tried on my wedding dress. I don’t know what to do… I feel like crap.
When I bought the dress back in January, I was going through a lot of anxiety issues and it caused me to lose a lot of weight. In the months after, I was able to gain my appetite back, along with the weight I had lost, and then some.
My mom is freaking out and I have no support–I’m worried I’m going to have to buy a new dress… my wedding is in a month. I know I screwed up but now there’s no time to do anything about it.

It’s not too late! Drink tons of water, cut way back on carbs and white sugar, and whatever you do, dont give up! You can do it.

I’m just worried because my last fitting is on the 30th 🙁

- Wedding: August 2012 - Historic Lougheed House
Could you try to reschedule the last fitting say, June 15? That way its closer to the wedding..
The best way to drop weight fast is cut carbs completely, no sugar, no flour…. Actually, a lot of people I know that eat paleo, have said the best way is to just eat chicken breasts, nothing else (not healthy in the long term, but yeah).
No carbs… just keep hydrated, and eat protein and non-starchy veggies. You can do it!

I’m in a similar spot! I gained 5 lbs after my last fitting 2 weeks ago and now the dress is super tight but thankfully it closes. I’m on a strict diet this week, eating only tuna with 8 soda crackers, steamed vegetables, 1/2cup of oatmeal, drinking a gallon of water a day and doing a bit of jogging. I hate that I have to crash diet (it will make gaining weight on the cruise that much faster) but I have no other option since the wedding is on Saturday and I’d like to be able to breathe that day.

Thanks ladies, you made me feel better 🙂
I was just worried that I would have to get another dress completely, I don’t think it will come down to that but I’m a worrier

I hadn’t tried on my dress since I bought it in January, so when I brought it in to be altered 2 weeks ago I was very nervous about trying it on. I didn’t have anyone with me – which really sucked ’cause it would have been nice to have support. 🙁 When the seamstress finally got me zipped into the dress she made the comment ” Well…It looks like we don’t have to take in anything from the bust, now DO we?!” I felt like CRAP! Granted, I was pre-menstrual and my boobs always feel bigger that time of month….but still….I have to pick it up on June 2nd. PLEASE let it be OK so I don’t feel like a fat ass bride whose dress doesn’t fit! *groans*

I don’t want to advise to crash diet…but if you look up fasting…it can be healthy and a quick way do drop lbs…water fasting, veggie fasting or veggie/fruit fasting, even eating 1200 calories then fasting for 16 hours is a way to slim down. Google it;) good luck!

You can do it! You still have a month. The dress maker will have to reschedule your appointment but its your wedding just be forceful! Don’t buy another dress I think you will deep down end up feeling dissapointed with yourself on the actual day.
I am in a similar situation to you and have my dress fitting at the start of june and then last fitting a week before the wedding. If you can try to get in a similar final fitting right before the wedding that would be the best. It has allowed me to know I can diet and not have to worry about the dress being too big on the day.
I started a VLCD about ten days ago and have lost 11 lbs thus far. Very pleased and so glad I started it.
You can do it!!! Wishing you luck!!!!!!

I second the crash diet….since you’re only a few weeks away you may have to do something drastic. Maybe a cleanse to drop water weight. Also, I would look into investing in really good undergarments. I got a straight up corset to wear under my dress, looks like its from the 1800’s , but it really does suck me in a few inches! It’s not the most comfortable, but I can breath and it makes me look like I have some nice curves.

Do you have a zipper back?? If so, it’s possible for them to change it to a lace up… that’s what I did. My dress was too small from the get go… I think it was ordered wrong… so that’s what I did! And, it’s perfect… and prettier now!
