Just wondering how much weight y’all gained during the first trimester, and for those of you who have already had your baby, I would like to know weight gain during first trimester and overall for the entire pregnancy.

I gained about 6lbs in the first trimester and am up to 30lbs at 33 weeks. I only gained about 12lbs by 20 weeks, and then it started piling on quicker.

I began at a normal weight and gained the recommended 5 lbs of first trimester well before the end of first trimester. I was worried I was going to gain way too much! Since then, my rate of weight gain has slowed, and I’m back on track in terms of my weight gain. My doc is recommending total 25-30 lbs of weight gain through the whole pregnancy.
From reading through pregnancy forums and such, the rate of weight gain is highly variable from person to person; plus, the recommended weight gain depends a lot on your starting weight and other characteristics.

rbgrocio : I gained zero during the first tri. didn’t lose any either- was exactly the same at my 13 week as I was at my 8 week
I did gain 5 lbs between my 13 week and 17 week appt!
If it helps, I was a normal BMI starting out.

I didn’t gain weight during the first trimester at all. I didn’t have morning sickness either so I didn’t lose weight either.
The second trimester though? That’s when I must’ve gained like 15 pounds.
Total weight gain? Probably 21 lbs, and that was probably due to the fact that DS was born at 37 wks.
I started out with a normal BMI.

I lost a couple in the first trimester (no morning sickness though, so not sure why). Went back and forth gaining/losing a couple ever since, so I’m still a few pounds below my pre-preg weight at 31 weeks. I started off at a normal BMI, so my OB’s been keeping a closer eye on me to make sure baby’s measuring okay.

I started a little overweight and didn’t gain any first trimester. I gained 5lbs by the 20 week anatomy scan and then got hit HARD in the third trimester, gaining 30lbs starting at around 30 weeks. About half of it was water weight from some crazy edema though that I lost immediately. The other half I’m still hanging on to at 5 months PP.

The first time I gained 10 pounds in the first trimester, 33 total. My doctor said that was normal. This time around I gained 15 pounds in the first trimester HAHA. I’m 17 weeks now though and I have only put on 1-2 pounds since my last first trimester appointment. Morning sickness plus a 1 year old running around really kicked my ass. I’m not concerned though. I lost the 33 plus 10 the first time around 😉

During my previous pregnancy (started out a fairly average weight), I gained 10 pounds in the first trimester, 30 pounds total for the pregnancy. By 1 year postpartum, I had lost all the weight I’d gained plus a bit extra.
This time, I had some serious nausea/food aversions, so I lost 5 pounds in the first few weeks, but then gained that back plus another 5 pounds by 12 weeks, so it’s looking like a similar progression so far.

I started with a BMI of 33. I lost 12 lbs. during the first trimester due to nausea. I still cannot eat full meals like I used to. Between 14-19 weeks, I gained back five pounds, which at this point is mostly baby. So, in all, I’m still down seven pounds. We’ll see how the next months go. I’m only allowed to gain 10-15 lbs. due to my BMI so I’m thankful for the wiggle room.

I started at a healthy weight and didn’t gain any weight in the first trimester. I’m starting to put on a little now… I’m in my 16th week.

I was an average/normal weight to start, gained about 3-4 lbs the first trimester (no morning sickness), 25 total. Most of my weight gain didn’t pick up until after 20 weeks. which is around when I started to show. Baby was born ~2 weeks late weighing 6 lbs 4 oz. I dropped 20 lbs within the first week of his birth, and the last 5 lbs are just kind of hanging on. I’m guessing that won’t fall off until after I’m done breastfeeding. Also, no one told me this but my appetite is 100 x’s bigger now that I’m EBF than it ever was when I was pregnant.

I actually gained quite a bit of weight during the first trimester, like somewhere between 10 and 14 pounds (a lot of which was bloating). Pre-pregnancy I’m normal/thin weight wise so this freaked me out SO much! I was also SUPER sick though and taking Zofran and could literally only eat very certain things like fast food/pop/packaged foods which I don’t normally eat so I think that had a lot to do with it. Once I was able to eat more normally again and drink as much water as I usually do (which is a lot) things regulated. I didn’t gain the same amount weekly, some weeks I would be starving and gain a couple pounds and some weeks I would eat normally and gain nothing. I just tried to go with my body instead of what I “should” be doing and I’m now 40+1 and have gained almost exactly 30 pounds. My midwife said that I’ve gained the perfect amount of weight and I’ve had no issues at all pregnancy wise, other than being sick in the beginning. If you’re the type of person who can usually listen to your body that’s what I highly recommend you do. I haven’t had any crazy cravings, but I’ve liked a lot of foods I don’t normally like (cinnamon rolls, pizza, snickers, etc.). I’ve tried to just be very moderate in my choices and eat healthy and drink a lot of water whenever possible.

I’m halfway through the pregnancy and haven’t gained any weight. But I also had terrible, terrible nausea and vomiting for a solid 12 weeks, so I had a really hard time eating and drinking. In my last pregnancy, I felt like I was constantly starving, and gained probably 50lbs. I was able to lose it all afterwards but it sucked.

Started at a healthy weight and have gained 5 lbs. I’m a couple days shy of officially being in the second trimester. My doctor reccomends a weight gain of 25-35lbs. Not really showing yet, just look a bit bloated or like I had one too many cheeseburgers.
