RunnerBride13 :  I am glad to hear this- I started at 125 (5’2) and have only gained 1 or 2 lbs. Am almost 16 weeks. I’m trying to eat but I have zero appetite, even after a long run! Hope you are feeling better these days.

indiblue :  yeah it took a while for my appetite to return, and even now it’s not huge like a lot of people seem to say. How much are you running? I would just make sure you aren’t doing too much – I run about 15 miles/week and lift weights or do yoga 2-3 times a week, and my doctor said that was fine unless I couldn’t start gaining weight by week 20.

I’m almost 19 weeks with twins and have gained about 9 pounds so far. Based on my progress it looks like I’m on track to gain around 30-35 for the entire pregnancy, which is what doc reccommended.

RunnerBride13 :  Not much at all- I  am not a serious runner to begin with, but cut way back when I got pregnant mainly because I had no energy! I used to do 20 miles a week max, and now do just one short run during the week and a longer run over the weekend- around 10 miles total, plus 1-2 sessions of yoga a week and a brisk walk 5 days a week. Pretty light. My midwife says it’s ok to keep that up and that they will monitor my weight gain. I have my 16w appointment on Monday so we’ll see what she says!

Mrs. Meowerson :  That sounds about right. I’m up about 40lbs, on track to gain 50 lbs (I have about 5-6 weeks left before I deliver and I started out small prior to pregnancy-size 0-2). I’m comfortable with the weight gain since it’s all in my belly.

Mrs. Meowerson :  I can’t remember exactly how much I’d gained by 20 weeks, but I did get lectured for gaining too much between appointments, at one point. I think it was from 12-16, and I’d gained like 8 pounds in the one month. It really hurt my feelings at the time, but I get why my OB brought it up. She didn’t want me gaining 8 lbs every month (reasonable) but she could have been more tactful in her delivery. Pregnant women can be sensitive you know 😉 . I ended up gaining about 35-40 lbs total.

Mrs. Meowerson :  let me know if you want to join…there’s 30+ of us all from here, all due in April…it doesn’t seem many of us pop in here bc we have that group.

Maybe I did ask and you didn’t want to or don’t have FB? it’s a closed, secret group so no FB friends can see or find it

Mrs. Meowerson :  I think we’re due around the same time. I have an idea I gained around 8-12 lbs so far and I’m 18 weeks today. When I go to the Dr. I still them not to tell me the number that’s on the scale because I never weeighed myself before I got pregnant I just went based on how I felt. I’m a healthy weight overall so I’m not worried. The only concern I had was I gained about 5 lbs (which is a lot for my heigh and weight) before I got pregnant and I wish I would’ve stayed at my original weight so I could’ve gained that 5 lbs from the pregnancy. I don’t work out either so especially now that I’m getting tired it’s hard to motivate myself to get on a cardio workout plan.

I gained almost 16lbs by 20 weeks with this pregnancy.  I started out about 5lbs less then I did with my first but I’m on track to end up around the same final weight.  Which was about 42-43lbs with my first, so it’s looking closer to 50lbs with this one.  Not my favorite thing but I’m about 6′ so I guess my body just wants to gain more and 40lbs on me is easy to carry vs. someone small.  Never had an issue losing weight with my first, it came off super easily (thanks to exclusively breastfeeding) so hopefully this one does as well.  My doctor has never mentioned weight either time, I don’t see why they should be lecturing anyone.  13lbs…honestly I can’t believe your doctor even mentioned that you should “slow down”.  Unless you’re just going to town eating everything in sight and double portions of everything your body is going to do what it wants to do.

I gained a lot of weight right after morning sickness ended… and was at about 17 total pounds by 20 weeks (and thought I was getting into trouble…I had visions of gaining 50 pounds etc.) but then my weight gain really slowed down again and now I’m at week 30 and I’ve only gained 20 total pounds. So it can really vary month to month!
