I am 36 weeks today and have gained a total of about 38 pounds….eek! I was wondering if in the last 4 weeks you tend to gain more or level off? I really wanted to stay in the 25-35 pound range but guess that won’t happen. I’m also so in my pre-pregnancy mind frame, like gotta stop eating so much and go on a diet, which obviously I won’t do!

I’m 37 wks today. At my last appointment my weight jumped 4lbs and at today’s it was 5lbs more! I don’t understand and the midwives don’t seem worried because everything else is normal…and I’m not doing anything differently. I’m up 35lbs…hoping to stay below 40, but at the rate I’m going, who knows?

I lost a pound one week and gained it back the next (I’m almost 38 weeks). I’ve heard that some women experience minor weight loss in the last month, but I’m sure this varies from person to person.

Everyone keeps telling me that “all the weight hits you at the very end.” My mom says she gained 10 lbs in between 38 and 40 weeks (there’s no way that’s healthy!).
I am only 33 weeks and have gained 20 lbs–I am hoping the rumors aren’t true!

I gained 16 total and at least 5 were in the last month. I am overweight so I was keeping my gain as low as I could. The amount of fluid can add extra weight on a week by week basis.

With baby #1 mine totally slowed. Maybe a few pounds? And I did lose a pound or two right at the very end.

WTEWYE says some women actually lose weight inthe last month. I know that won’t happen to me, but it’s possible. (I think the author said it was because the stomach is so compressed it’s just too painful to eat much)

My weight gain slowed dramatically in the 3rd trimester. I gained almost everything I have gained before 28 weeks. I think I’m sitting around 40lbs, but I’m not too worried. I’m expecting a 9-10lb baby and when you add in the weight of the fluid and placenta plus the insane amount of water I am retaining, that’s probably more than half of my weight gain.

@zippylef: 🙂 Cool. I gained a whole lot up to now (32 weeks). It seems to be slowing down, and I really hope it flatlines or drops!
