Ok, bees! We’ve got just around four months until our weddings, and it’s time to get our butts in gear!
I’ve put on about 15 lbs since I met FI, and would love to be at my *best* when we get married. I have been getting back into my Insanity workouts, and started the Paleo diet this weekend. Also been cutting back on the wine in the past few weeks. However, I always lose motivation!
Let’s share whatever motivates you – be it personal pictures, inspirational quotes, or simply seeing the number on the scale go down.
Here are a few of my favorite inspirational quotes!
- “The difference between your body this week and next week is what you do for the next seven days to achieve your goals”
- “Your feet hurt because you’re kicking ass!”
- “Suck it up, and someday you won’t have to suck it in”
- “It takes 4 weeks for you to see your body change, 8 weeks for friends and family, and 12 weeks for the rest of the world. Keep going!”

I am right there with you. I started a low-carb diet a week ago and have lost 3lbs so far! Now I’m trying to motivate myself to get back in the gym.
As far as motivatin goes, I always say skinny feels better than food tastes!
Also, I’ve heard 5lbs lost and you feel a difference; 10lbs and you see a difference; 15lbs and other people see a difference.

I’ve been slowly losing weight over the last 6-8 months or so but I still have 22lb to go before the wedding. My motivation has been coming from others. Though I don’t always realize how much weight I’ve lost, when other people notice, it is an equal dose of motivation and a confidence booster!
I also keep reminding myself of the quote “weight gain does not happen over night. Neither does weight lose.”

I am following you girls. I start off low-carb but end up screwing it up. Although even cutting back has made a small difference. I have finally started to work out and I am actually starting to like it!!! I am really short and about 9 lbs from my goal weight. So I guess it’s not that much to lose lbs. wise my issue is sculpting my body. My arms when you’re in your late 30s the arms don’t look so great unless you work them out consistently. Like I said I am not that big BUT my arms look like those ladies that hang out the window all summer long and know the scoop on the whole block!!!! I call them my fat spanish old lady arms!
My mantra sadly is a direct quote from “The Situation” (yes, Jersey Shore). Here goes: “when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you get good results” Speaking of Jersey Shore, has anyone seen how much weight Snookie has lost? FYI I am only about a 2″ taller than her.

@sarahg8r: Good for you! 3lbs is a great start, especially in only one week! Working out will help you too, since building muscle boosts your metabolism. I read that cardio only increases your metabolism while you’re doing it, but lifting weights increases metabolism for like 12 hours afterward.
@Essa: That’s a really good point! The weight didn’t show up overnight, and we’re not going to lose it overnight. Keep up the awesome work! You’ve come this far 🙂
@chachaD: You’re not far from your goal weight at all! Toning will make a world of difference 🙂 Like I said before, when you lift weights it actually increases metabolism over a longer period of time. So it’s a double-whammy!
Loving the enthusiasm! Keep going!

I’m with you ladies! I set a goal of losing about 25 lbs this year, and so far I’ve lost about half that. For me the best motivation is when I see that my efforts are starting to pay off as it keeps me on track. I also love this quote:
“You are not fat, you have fat. There is a difference”

I’ve been trying to loose 15 Lbs since January. Only lost 6 and my weight was like a yoyo.
A week and a half ago I decided no more of this crap and decided on this:
Cutting my carbs at night with dinner, cutting on my wine :(, sticking to 1200 Calories per day with my Fitness Pal, doing pushups and lunges every morning.
So far i lost 4Lbs in a week and a half and am starting to see arm definition. So that is my motivation! Seeing results motivates me 🙂

I have been using My fitness pal since last july. So far I have lost 13 lbs. I still have at least 5 more to go. I am trying to find my motivation to buckle down. I have been running and doing bodypump 5 days a week. I would love to work more on my back and arms as well as get a leaner stomach.

I’ve been on mfp since last June. Lost 18 pounds but then between January and now I gained back 15 of it. So frustrating! I keep losing motivation and that just can’t happen anymore because it’s too close to the wedding now! Need to buckle down and make it work this time 🙂 I’ve been trying low-carb and attempting to do any exercise that I can fit into my schedule. Hopefully it will start to pay off.

I’ve been on MFP, as well as completing Couch to 5k, and I’ve lost 50 lbs as of today! Double-bonus is that I ran my first 5k this morning. Woo hoo!!
What motivates me is having an incredibly supportive FH who has lost over 80 lbs. I wouldn’t be able to live a healthier lifestyle or be more active without his support. It has also helped seeing the physical changes in my body as I have lost the weight. It’s been a long road so far, but now that I’m down this much, I’m ready to conquer the other 50 I want to lose!

I have 7-8 lbs to lose. Think I will try to start running again (its been a long time since I did) maybe 3 times per week and see what that does for me. Good luck with your weight loss Oct bees!
