As I understand it, I’m supposed to buy my dress 8 months before the wedding, so this gives me roughly 6-7 months to lose whatever weight I can (in a healthy way, of course). My goal is to lose 50-60 lbs., and I guess I’d like hear some success stories of weight loss around that magnitude and what it took to do it?

I lost 35lbs before my wedding. So much weight I ended up changing dresses because my old dress was hanging off me and really didn’t do my new shape justice! 🙂

I started after I bought my dress, was upset at how big I was and ordered a size smaller than I was at then. Bought it in January, started in mid-March. So far I’m down 42.5 lbs, I have somewhere between 15-20 more I’d like to drop before my wedding in 75 days. I don’t have a fitting for another month so I am hoping to be down 10lbs or so by the fitting but even if I don’t make that goal I’m over a size smaller than the size I ordered, they will have to take it in about 2+ sizes by August but I went in and they measured me again and said it’s not a problem.
I use My Fitness Pal religiously, (today was the beginning of week 12) there are a lot of Bees on there (that’s how I found out about it), lots of protein, lots of water, veggies, fruits…cardio, strength training every day and pilates worked in. I’m the same username on there, it works great and the people there are amazing for motivation–there’s even a Wedding Bee group. Join us! You can do this!!! MFP helps you set goals in a healthy way and micro-manage if you want, so you track sugar, sodium, etc. It is a great tool, and free!

Lost 30 lbs since September last year and looking for another 5-6 lbs before the wedding. I did plenty of exercise combined with healthy eating and an occasional splurge. I limit my alcohol, try to stay away from white carbs, sweets and junk food. But, sometimes I give in because chocolate is not an enemy. My bridal salon measured me to order a size 14 in January, I signed a waiver and ordered a 12 against their advice. When it came in it was too big and it’s being taken in right now. Besides the weight loss, which is awesome, there are so many other great benefits I didn’t expect. My skin has improved tremendously, I have way more energy, I sleep better at night, and even with the craziness of wedding stress, I’m calmer than ever. It’s a win, win.
