I gained 20 pounds last year due to sedetary lifestyle and eating too much. Then I found out about myfitness pal and I have lost it all and a bit more.
I find that now I get more comments on my weight loss than I had put on weight. I had few people who commented which I didn’t like ofcourse since I was aware of it and didn’t need to be reminded.
Now I am constantly getting weight loss comments at work .At first I felt awkward whenever someone commented but now I am used to it since they are obviously trying to me nice.
Just wondering why most people are quick to comment on weight loss than weight gain.I am not complaining.Have you ever had someone commented on your weight gain? I just want to hear other people opinion and perspective on the subject. Thanks

uhh i guess because weight gain is generally seen as “bad” and most people don’t want to point it out because it is rude..

I think the obvious answer is weight loss is a positive (for most) and weight gain is seen as negative.

In society it seems to be more “acceptable” to deem someone too skinny, than overweight. “fat shaming” is horrible, but so is “skinny shaming”. Though I also dont agree with promoting unhealthy weight (way to low or high body fat) as “healthy”. Love you body, but love it enough to keep it healthy.
I found the same with my recent weight changes. I had put on 25 lb (That is a LOT on a petite 5′ frame!) and no one said ANYTHING, for months!!. Now that I am down 30, people comment that “i better watch out or youll put it all back on” ummmm I eat well, count my macros, and lift heavy weights 3 days a week and run 3 days a week.. Im good. “Maybe you should try putting a bit more back on, people might think youre sick” I dont care what people think. Im in the best shape of my life and I can squat AND dealift over my own bodyweight. HOO-RAH hahaha.
The people who compliment you, say thank you and be proud. The people who dont seem to positive or who judge you, are struggling with something internally with their own fitness/body/etc and projecting it onto you, so I would just shrug it off as its nothing to do with you 🙂

I need to lose some but mostly people have been kind to me. Fact is I was super slim and toned and I can’t help but feel people prefer me a bit less in shape. I have bigger boobs, more bottom and no longer look fitness modelly. I miss it, but I have been told my weight gain suits me. Yet, I know I’m not as healthy as I once was. Hmmm.
