For me, I really got into hummus – it’s such a great snack with veggies, or even with pita if you have the points to use. My favorite is roasted red pepper hummus.
I also really got into the fresh made salsa (zero points plus!) at my supermarket (Tops) but I’m sure they have it at other supermarkets, instead of the processed stuff it’s fresh, but it’s easier to just grab some than make it at home ;o) I eat that with homemade tortilla chips, which are my staple! The recipe is simple:
Use corn tortillas (the ones I use Tam-x-icos! Corn Tortillas are 1 point plus for 2 tortillas) and use a pizza cutter or knife to cut into wedges. Place in single layer on cookie sheet and spray liberally with cooking spray (0 points plus) or you can use a healthy oil if you have to get those in. Then sprinkle with a little salt and any other spices you like – my favorite is to sprinkle pepper and parsley. Bake in a 350 degree oven until crispy usually about 5-7 minutes (keep a close eye on them). Enjoy! My SO loves them even though he’s not doing WW.
Finally, check out TrulyJess on Youtube, and her blog here: http://www.trulyjess.com/. She does daily vlogs that have kept me motivated and on her blog has a lot of healthy recipes (I’ve tried some, they’re delicious! I made her Peanut Butter Oatmeal Batter this morning, it’s delicious and has still kept me full since 8 a.m (it’s 10:40 here) even after a spin class!) I also got a waffle maker because of her – she has great waffle recipes! Oh, and she gave me a shout-out on her vlog (14:30 mark) if you want to check it out, see it here (I don’t know her IRL): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUisW2gEIlQ&feature=share&list=UUUiFv0Ahf3VRSeGk0rQzfKA
@Lily_of_the_valley: I do the meetings, I pay $42.95 per month, that includes unlimited meetings, the online E-Tools and full access to their site, and the apps so I can keep track of my points and everything on my phone and scan foods to enter them into the tracker. I got the first month for $20 (there was a promotion). To me it’s worth it because if someone would have said to me when I started, “pay me $105.90 (my cost so far) and I will guarantee you will lose 25.2 lbs in 12 weeks”, I would have said HELL YES so fast!! There’s no guarantee but if you put in the work, it DOES work! I think it’s worth it because the short-term cost is really worth the long-term benefits!
Online I think it’s about half of the cost, but someone who does it online can better answer that. I personally love the meetings, I like the accountability of weighing in every week, and my friend is also doing it so we meet up at the meetings and support each other. I also like getting all of the acknowledgement publicly of my good job, meeting goals, (ie. stickers when I lose 5lbs, sounds stupid but it’s nice to be acknowledged, and keychain and charms when I reach milestones (so far the keychain and a 25 lb charm).
