Darling Husband and I keep finding out that we’re related to significant people in the other person’s life, but didn’t know it until long after we started dating. Example:

Darling Husband shows up for Thanksgiving at my Aunt and Uncle’s house. His 2nd cousin is there (Dad’s first cousin). Turns out that his 2nd cousin lived nexdoor to my Aunt and Mom growing up and has remained close friends with my Aunt for 60 years. She’s been at our Thanksgiving every year since I was born.

One of my best friends is in town visiting from across the country. Darling Husband and I go over to his parents to visit. Friend’s mom says to Darling Husband “I have relatives from your hometown. Do you know <names DH’s grandparents>?” Turns out my best friend’s mom is DH’s mom’s 2nd cousin, but they were very close growing up.

We’re convinced that we’re going to find out we’re related one day!

We just talked about something like this this past weekend.  In his family he is the only boy and has three sisters.  His mom and dad both come from families made up of three girls and one boy.  My mom has two sisters and a brother that died at birth.  (my fathers family doesn’t fit into this mold) I found this very wierd!  Also we were both born on the eigth of our birth months.

@CanAmBride:  My grandparents grew up in a very small, rural area.  At one point in time, they started tracing thier family trees.  It eventually came clear that they would eventually find out that they were related (7-8 generations back, so not like first cousins or anything).  My grandmother decided that they knew enough about the family and dissuaded any further geneological research.

P.S.  After she and my grandfather passed, we discovered that they were related, but they were very, very distant cousins.  This is not uncommon in an area like they grew up in.

FH was born in 1977, his dad in 1955, and his grandfather in 1933. My dad was born in 1950, my oldest brother in 1970, and my youngest brother in 1990 – I thought it was funny that we both had patterns like that running in our families.

Aaaannndddd both of our maternal grandfathers were recluses who lived on boats in Central America, lol.

My dad and Fiance have the same birthday! (sep 22) It’s also the same birthday as my favorite literary characters, bilbo and frodo =D

His dad and my mom’s birthday is 1 day apart.

Both of our older sisters are the same age and were born a week apart, and were married within 3 months of each other.

We run around a lot to try to go to 2 birthday parties every birthday lol.

The only thing I can think of is our moms are the same age (2 weeks apart) and our brothers are the same age (1.5 months apart).

The strangest thing I can think of is that Fiance and my brother have the same birthday and myself and FI’s sister have the same birthdays. I always tease him he can never forget my birthday.

we have very small things like in both our families NO ONE calls anyone by a nickname or a short verison of their name ( yet both sets of friends all call us by shorter names)

we both have several Davids in each of our families

both of our families celebrate holidays with huge family meals

the biggest one is..most of our relatives, including us, have birthdays on or near a holiday, some the same day..between the 2 families there is 10 bdays in dec alone!

Ok here’s a really weird one.

When I was a baby, my family lived in Sparta, NJ. We moved to Maryland about 4 years later and that’s where I grew up, went to HS etc… I went away to college in Savannah, GA.

I met my Fiance in Los Angeles after school but he also went to school in Savannah and we graduated on the same day. He moved out to LA with his friend from college who is from Sparta, NJ.

His friend from NJ is one of our groomsmen and my sister is my Maid/Matron of Honor. Turns out they were in 3rd grade together. I have a class photo to prove it!

Oh yes. My fiance is apparently his great (great?) paternal grandfather reincarnated. We saw a photo at his grandmother’s house and it is just uncanny how much they look alike! It’s like my fiance in a period costume.

To add to the wow factor, ol’ grandpa’s wife had my same build (short and squat) I need a copy of that photo. Apparently I remind his maternal grandparents of one of their ancestors as well.

Our siblings are all born 3 years apart, so his sister is the same age as mine, and his brother is the same age as mine.

Our birthdays are one year and one day apart, similar to my grandparents. I am the older one, and so is my grandma.
