I recently went on a job interview and the company is a bit strange. Especially the HR department. I had one interview and it went really well – I was there for over an hour talking with the art director. However, a week passed and now I got an email from the HR (secretary I guess) asking if I have further interest in the role. Nothing about if they are interested in me still. So am I supposed to write back and set up my own interview? I have never had this happen – usually the company kind of takes the reigns, invites me in for another interview etc. This just seems so odd to me – in addition, compensation and benefits were never discussed. So how can I be sure if I should pursue the role? I don’t know if I should just respond with yes?

Well, emailing you to ask if you’re interested technically is expressing interest in you. I would just respond back with, “yes, I am still interested. Would you like me to come in for a 2nd interview? I am available these days…” and see what they say. Maybe that is when they’ll discuss specifics.

TaraMay_: yes, I just responded and said I enjoyed my interview and would love to speak further about the role. Haha this HR person is pretty awkward, even from the beginning

It does seem odd, but maybe they are just wondering if you are still interested now that you’ve had a chance to come in and meet with the art director and get a feel for the company. I’d respond like the PP said.

After a job interview, I was asked to come back to the office a second time. I assumed it was for another interview, but they wanted to extend a job offer and discuss salary in person. So maybe you’re getting an offer?!
