So I am super excited to have picked up my upgraded e-ring this week. To cut a long story short: my original ering was an emerald centre stone in a diamond pave setting as picked out by my SO. I was never really taken with it, but wore it all the same with pride because I was happy to be getting married! Fast forward 6 years and my husband and I agreed it was time to get me my dream ring.
I spent ages researching diamonds and settings and picled up my new ring this week. Let me tell you: its gorgeous! I keep looking at my left hand and smiling a little smile to myself.
However – as much as I love it on my hand, i think the diamond looks really small in photos, and when I look at in the mirror. For some reason, this really bugs me. I wish it looked as great to everyone else as it does to me!
Of course, its better that I love what it looks like and screw what everyone thinks, but I do wish the diamond stood out a bit more like when I’m looking down directly on it. Now I’m thinking i should have got a bigger diamond.
Am I a bit weird? And can anyone sympathise?

I think it is beautiful & looks wonderful on your long thin fingers.
Do you have a picture of the ring you had before?

@becleeham: I think its stunning! Do you know what the carat size is? Because it doesn’t look small AT ALL

I think it looks gorgeous, very classy, and I love your wedding band too!

Size seems OK, but the center stone looks cloudy in this picture!

I think it looks very pretty! Both on and off your finger.

Try this trick: Have a trusted friend, sister, mom, etc. wear your ring while you’re out to coffee or lunch together. Seeing it sparkle as it moves on someone else’s hand will give you a better sense of what other people see than a mirror or photos can.

@becleeham: Was your emerald a bigger stone? If so, maybe that is what your become to expect it to look like. It does not look small to me. When we upgraded, I went from a bigger stone to a smaller better quality one I had really bad DSS (diamond shrinkage syndrome) but the longer I wore it, the better it got. I second the have your frind try it on idea….it really does make a difference.

U have chronic DDS…it should pass and then come back then pass then come back.

@GelaMac: What is DDS? I think I might have had that for a little bit! 😛
@becleeham: Mine seemed smaller than yours, until I got over the size of the diamond.. with the halo I have, it adds to the size of the overall ring. Your ring is a great size, and not too small, imo.

It certainly doesnt look anything like as small as the ones many of my friends have! Then again, we are all broke students…It looks fine though. More than fine, it’s bloody gorgeous!
