Though SO had talked with his parents about getting the ring shipped from their house to his this past week, that didn’t happen. So Saturday we drove from my apartment to his parents’ to get it.
I knew he wasn’t going to just give it to me–the only reason I was there at all is because his parents live four hours from his place, and only an hour and a half from mine, and he didn’t want to take half the weekend apart from me. 😀
But we get there and, though I know his mom has looked at the ring (she accidentally opened the box, expecting something from ebay!) no one said anything about it.
It was hard to get through dinner. Later, at Starbucks on our way back to my house, I finally burst, and ask if I can just see it.
He said, “I’m not just going to let you see it, I am going to hand it to you.”
Me: “What? I can just go out to the car and look if you want.”
Him: “But I don’t want you to see the box. That’s part of the surprise.”
I thought it over and decided to just wait. I didn’t want to spoil anything, and I was a little afraid I wouldn’t want to take it off if I got it. Besides, I had told him before I was going to let him do this his way, in his own time, so maybe it’s better not to push.
But now I know he has something up his sleeve. The box is part of the surprise? I already know which ring it is. It’s the Robbins Bros. ring. He’s already told me that much, and we really didn’t even seriously look at any other options. It’s not like he could have gotten me a nicer one, because that WAS the nicer one.
How is a box that I can only assume says Robbins Bros with velvet on the inside a surprise? It can’t be a giant jewenry box, since it fit into a FedEx medium box. This is so weird it’s driving me crazy. What about the box could be a surprise?! It seems really weird to me. It better not say Merry Christmas on it!
Well, he 100% for sure has the ring in his possession now, so hopefully I won’t have to wait too much longer to find out!
