I used to work front desk at a hotel and have checked in quite a few odd names. Many were strange when put together like Stan Kass(stank ass) Phuk Yu, or Inda House. I went to school with a girl named Crystal Glass. Two of my good friends growing up were named Kazhmeere(cashmere) and Chiffon. I know there are a few that made tears come out of my eyes as I tried not to laugh in front of the guest but I can’t seem to remember them!

Drizzle: Yeah, I know now 🙂 That’s who she was named after. I’ve never heard of her until my co-worker told me haha.

smoocheepoo: I would be mortified too! One of my family members told me the “Shithead,” “Gonorrhea” and “Syphillis” ones when I was in middle school, and I didn’t learn they were fake until a few years later.

I had a few students with strange/different names,
Nixsy (pronounced Nix-See)
Female (pronounced Fee-MAL-Ay) LOL
Samary (pronounced Sa-Mary, the story behind her name is cool though, a combo of her parents names, Sam and Mary…)
Yivank (pronounced Jo-van, that one took me a LONG time to remember how to pronounce it correctly)

I used to follow a young mom’s blog and she named her daughter River. Their last name was Fisher. River Fisher. I actually like the name River, but I cringed at that one.
I knew a girl who named her daughters Capri and Soleil. CapriSun. Like the drink pouches.

I know a 50 year old woman named Skye. Jannatul is another – I’ve known two. Both girls preferred to be called Jan or Janna.

KLee. I said it “kleeee.” It was pronounced Kay-Lee.

DanaWeddingGuest: Nicolas Cage named his son Kal-El.
I went to middle school with a girl named Chablis (pronounced like the wine). She was named that because thay’s what her parents were drinking when she was conceived. That we knew that, as middle schoolers, kind of makes me throw up a little in my mouth Her brother was named Joe and she had an older sister with a “normal” name.
My sister knew a girl named Freedom whose sister was named Christy… go figure!
I knew a girl in HS named Candi Cain

I shit you not, I met a little girl named Dolphin when I was a kid. She was visiting her cousins (my neighbors), and their names were Summer Love, Autumn Breeze, and Levi Gene. This wasn’t the hippie era, either. It was the 90s.

My Darling Husband…..his parents were hippies and studying Buddhism. So he got stuck with a Sanskrit name…..Dhyana (Dee-ah-nah). It means one who achieves enlightenment while maintaining a mortal state on earth. He goes by Dee to me, my family, and friends. His family calls him by his birth name.
