Hey ladies, I thought I knew in advance what to expect in terms of pregnancy side effects, but I’ve discovered one completely random one: my armpits are ridiculously itchy! Actually, I shouldn’t even say armpits, because it’s just my right one, which makes it even more odd, LOL. It’s driving me up the wall, because it’s not exactly an area you can scratch in public without looking like a fool!
Do any of you have any crazy side effects?

I’m sure that must be a gender predictor. Sounds like it should be! You scratch girl 🙂

I think one of the strangest things I had happen to me early on in my pregnancy were my dreams. Right before I found out I was pregnant I kept having the most horrible nightmares ever. Horor movies had nothing on the butcher fest dreams that hit me a number of times every night.
I couldn’t figure out what in the world was going on. I wasn’t watching anything remotely scary to egg it on, or had anything else going on in the day that would influence them. My cousin kept insisting I was pregnant when I would mention them and I thought she was nuts. Turned out she was right!

@Anriya: Yep, having those too. I’ve had some real doozies that have Darling Husband rolling on the floor laughing when I tell him some of my dreams.

I had a weird metallic type taste in my mouth for the 1st and 2nd trimester. No fun at all

@Anriya: Dreams definitley! some pretty steamy ones at that!

I’m much farther along then some other posters (39 weeks) but I never knew it was normal to develop carpel tunnel syndrome and such sore knuckles and hands. Every morning my finger joints are so stiff and sore I have to bend them back into place. Very weird!

I think the charlie horses and toe cramps I’ve had are the strangest (and most painful) pregnancy symptoms I’ve had!!

@Shosha1: I have an itchy armpit too! What gender did you end up having?

The hydronephrosis…didn’t even know what that was until I had it.
The inability to tolerate the smell of vinyl (fake leather chairs were the worst!)

I smell poop and fart 90% of the time. It’s disgusting.

Not really a side effect but my cat wouldn’t leave me alone. If I was home he was sitting on my lap, following me around the house like a puppy, meowing CONSTANTLY. When I was sleeping he would sleep on my belly until I started to get big and it got uncomfortable then he started sleeping on my head. If I locked him out of my room he would scratch and meow at the door until I let him in so he could sleep on my head. Once baby came he went about his pre-pregnancy routine which was basically doing his own thing unless he wanted something.

@rachiebabie: I could always smell poop and fart early on!
I think the extra hair is wierd (not so noticable now but it was one of my first symptoms early on) and I was expecting my hormones to just make me cry all the time – I wasn’t expecting the uncontrolable laughter!!!!
Some of the crazy reasons I’ve cried: My pringles tasted bad, I accidentally stood on a slater bug, I thought I ran over a lizard, when I went back to check I hadn’t run over the lizard so I cried again!

@Mollie-Rose: yes, the laughter. Im still very early, but I have found myself in laughing fits on a couple of different occasions… with tears. Whatever, I’ll take it!
