My husband had three requests for the wedding.  We tried to do all three, but only got 2 done.

The most unusual?  A camel.  Yes, he wanted a camel.

It was the hit of our night.

my husband had a lot of opinions, actually–we made most the decisions together (though based on me doing most the research, but I’m a researcher by trade so that made sense ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). the strangest thing he was opinionated about though, or rather the thing that I least expected, was that it turned out he had really strong opinions about wedding dresses! he didn’t want me wearing a ball gown, and they weren’t the most flattering on me anyway, so I ended up with more of a fit and flare.

oh! and also, he picked most of the kitchen items on our registry since he’s the cook in our household (I picked the pretty things ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) the registry consultant was totally shocked by how involved he was, she told me later when we went back for something that he was her new anecdote for stories about involved grooms!

We haven’t planned much yet but FH didn’t totally push for Disneyland but that was one of his dream venues, which he got…

The other stuff? well…

1- full sized “royal banners” of our names at the ceremony site

2- trumpeteers to announce everything

3- giant scrolls for our vows and our vows to be projected on to a screen so everyone can see them… We’re doing mini scrolls.

@VampireBride:  Okay, now this has got me fixated on cutting the cake with a sword or a machete or something…  Need to come up with the perfect weapon!

About 3 days ago my fiance tells me I should get a more expensive dress.

I found the dress I want, and it’s a china made, obviously, there’s a chance it might not turn out right, and this dress is VERY unique, never seen anything like it so I don’t know if another company could even make it.

Long tables. He wants long tables because he doesn’t like how circular tables force you to only engage with those at your table. I pointed out that long tables are even more inhibitive because you can only talk to the people next to and across from you, and maybe behind you. But nope. He wants long tables. And also something about wanting to be able to look down the length of the table and see everyone? Whatever. We have to rent tables either way, so that’s fine.

The dance floor in the back, so it’s away from all the tables/head tables. Something about people shouldn’t be forced to watch other people “shake their ass” and how the “ass shakers” don’t need an audience. That’s fine too, I’m not much of a dancer or watcher of dancers.

The food, he wants complete control of the food. This means no plated dinners and a must-have potato bar. Who doesn’t love potato bars?! So that’s fine as well. Except for the fact that I found an amazing caterer of Italian cousine..

I am not entirely sure if this was in jest or not, but he also wanted a top hat and cane. He is already 6’4″. I would feel like I was marrying Abe Lincoln. But I guess if he reaaaalllyy wants one, he can have one… I think I called his bluff though, and he gave that idea up when I didn’t put up too much of a fuss.

He was also adament that I go to New York to try on wedding dresses? But that’s not going to happen because I’m pretty sure I’ve found one that is amazing already. But he still wants me to go, and to preferrably pick someting that isn’t tulle, isn’t a ballgown, and isn’t a mermaid.

Oh, and he has ixnayed my plan for pre-ceremony photos of the bridal party since we will be having an evening ceremony. How do you get good pictures for evening ceremony if you can’t have the use of natural light?! I’m going to fight for this one, but how can I really? Logistics vs sentimentality and tradition?!

Aside from this, he really doesn’t care… Okay, maybe he has more opinions that I thought. ๐Ÿ˜›

My Fiance wants to import his favorite beer to have at our wedding. (it’s a Canadian beer and we’re getting married in Hawaii). Definitely trying to make this happen for him! It’s all he asked for! ๐Ÿ™‚

@cirk:  We rented it from the zoo.  It was actually one of the easier things on our list, believe it or not.

@Kewii:  I wish I could have been there haha! If you don’t mind me asking, how much was it, and how long did you get it for? Did your guests get to ride it?

My Fiance wanted no vegetarian dishes at the reception because he doesn’t “agree” with vegetarianism. I was like yes, that’s your view but not everyone shares it, what are they going to do, starve?? And he’s been suggesting songs for the first dance that are great songs but virtually impossible to dance to, especially as we are both horrible dancers.

He also wanted a bow tie (that got a huge YES from me because I love them).
