@VioletSky:  we bought in bulk from Costco and included mini water bottles, small bags of chips a’hoy cookies, some other misc. candy, mints, tissue packets, motrin, granola bars as well as a personalized door hanger that on one side reads something to the effect of “welcome family and friends, we’re happy you’re here, enjoy your stay” and the other side says “please do not disturb, we partied all night celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs. Last Name” – i’m also including shuttle information and brunch details, too. good luck!

I went to a wedding in July that had a welcome bag.  It had a bottle of water, asprin, gum, some granola bars, and a list of restaurants and liquor stores that were located near the hotel

We did welcome bags and they were a big hit. Our theme was chandeliers so I painted a chandelier on each bag using a stencil. I wish I had a photo!

We included lots of snacks (chips, nuts, fruit snacks, cookies, granola bars, crackers etc), bottles of water, gum, and a time line of all the events for the wedding.

We did, and our guests loved them.  We used reusable canvas shopping bags which weren’t the most beautiful, but our city has a 5c tax on each plastic shopping bag when you buy stuff in stores, so the guests were happy to have reusable bags waiting for them. We also included travel-size sunscreen, chapstick, 2 bottles of water, 2 bags of chips, 2 homemade cookies, a bunch of loose candies,  a subway system map, and an envelope of inserts. The inserts were a restaurant.com gift certificate to a restaurant in the neighborhood of the hotel (you can get a $25 certificate for $5 usually), and an insert card with info about our happy hour gathering and the pickup time for the shuttle we hired to take guests to the venue.
