At our destination wedding, we are just giving welcome bags filled with useful things to each guest as a favor. I’ve read a lot of things about people throwing out favors that have the couples name on it. We were planning on doing an iron-on for each bag with a starfish, our names, the resort and location and our date. Should we nix our names in case they want to use the tote bag another time?

Yes, I would leave out the names. More people would be able to get use out of them.

I don’t know if you would want to do this, but personally all I am doing on the bags is putting their name on it, and that’s it!

I would suggest putting that information on a cute tag tied to the handles instead.

I agree, leave off the names. More people are likely to use them after the wedding that way. The starfish and location sound like they will look cute though!

@MsBrewer: Oooh I like this idea…

I am also having a destination wedding and am doing welcome bags. I used discountmugs.com to get jute bags (they look islandy) and had a palm tree and Bahamas printed on it. That way, they can reuse it as if they purchased it while on vacation themselves.
I personally do not reuse anything that has another person’s name on it or event date. So I am hanging tags from each bag with our logo that has our names and wedding date on it… that way the bags tie into the theme but they can remove it.
Good luck 🙂

@futureMrsDonnelly: It would be easier, (a lot less info to put on the bags) and they will be more likely to reuse it in the future
