I have a lot of out-of-towners coming to the wedding and am trying to figure out whether I should have some sort of gathering the night before to welcome them to town. The rehearsal dinner will likely go until 10, so it wouldn’t start until around 10:30. I’ve seen other brides do it before and it seems like a fun idea, but also like something that would make for a sleepy bride the next day! Is anyone else planning a mini-soiree the night before? Or decidedly not doing anything (other than the rehearsal dinner)?

I wouldnt do it. You have a big day ahead of you and should get your rest. Dont put more stress on yourself. I would suggest some bars or places to eat to your OOTG in case they want to go themselves.

i love this idea. however, even as a guest, 1030 seems a bit late. can you either A) push the rehearsal dinner wayyyy forward (like 5ish) or B) do cocktails wit the Out of Town ppl before the rehearsal and dinner?

Why not just include all of your Out of Town guests at your rehearsal dinner? The cost would be the same if you were also having a separate event for them. This is what we did and I actually really enjoyed it. We had about 90 of 130 guests at our rehearsal dinner and it was a lot of fun. We were able to spend more time with all of our guests in a more relaxed atmosphere. I had a blast at our rehearsal dinner! It also allowed me to worry less about getting around to see everyone at our reception. This option seemed more stressful to me before I did it but afterwards we were SO glad that we did it this way!
