I purchased my wedding gown (Wtoo by Watters gown- Kinsey) at a consignment bridal shop who does not do returns or exchanges a few weeks ago… in a size 10.
Here is a pic of the dress… not me in the picture- this came from Google.
When I tried it on at the bridal shop- it was very tight and uncomfortable to wear… But purchased it anyway because I wanted to lose weight before the wedding anyway (December of this year). So I started working out, I have lost about 5 lbs in just a couple weeks which is exciting although I am pretty sure most of that is water weight but still exciting. Until I tried on my gown again and it’s already too big!… granted- I wasn’t wearing a bra like I had at the bridal shop and I know that will help but this was kind of a rude awakening for me… I think I purchased my gown too soon!
The reason why I purchased a gown already is because I was actually looking at another Watters gown at this particular bridal shop- I saw online that the price on it had gone down to $199.00 so I immediately made an appointment to go look at it. That next week, I went with my parents and we all hated the gown. It was just too low on my chest and I don’t want to be worried about my boobies popping out at my wedding so we vetoed it very quickly!
I told the girl that was helping me that I liked pockets in dresses and she brought in the Kinsey (in the picture) and we all fell in love with it… the price was great and I found an alterations place near me that don’t charge an arm and a leg for bridal gown alterations so I originally figured we would be okay on the money part.
I am planning on losing about 20 pounds total (I am a size 8/10 street size.. would like to be a 6 or a 4 but really just want to be healthy and tone looking- no bat wing arms or back cleavage for me on my wedding day!) but after seeing how big the dress was with just a few pounds difference I am officially concerned about the alterations part!
We are on a budget and I am now afraid that the alterations will cost much more than I anticipated with the amount of dress that will have to taken off or that the dress won’t even look the same after all the alterations?! AHHH!H!H!!HH!!HH!#[email protected]#RT:[email protected]$TP
Has anyone else had a similar situation…? Please tell me that there was a happy ending!!!
