@eeruhlig: Oh I totally understand. My husband and I had talked about our wedding (and it seemed to me we were making some pretty official plans) before the proposal… it was sooo hard for me to find/draw the line about what I could and couldn’t do wedding-wise before it was official.

I would wait, just because you’re not sure when he will propose and when your wedding will be. Your taste may change and so may the styles of dresses, maybe there is something that is even better. Plus, what if you buy it now and your weight changes…

wait, you never know what could happen. i dont see the point in dress shopping before you even are engaged, it takes away from it being as special.

This is such an exciting time! Enjoy this! You have plenty of time to plan and dress shop once you’re engaged.

I agree with some PP.  I would suggest letting the engagement period be special and exciting!  i know it’s hard from personal experience.  I also knew proposal was coming, we had talked about venues etc.,  but in the end I’m glad I waited on the dress for when I could go with my Maid/Matron of Honor, Future Sister-In-Law, and Future Mother-In-Law.

On the other hand…. to each their own!  If this is the best way for you then go for it!

I would wait until you are officially engaged and you and your Fiance have discussed your vision of the wedding. I also tried on some dresses before I was officially engaged, but knew if was coming up in two weeks, and after it became official and we found our venue and determined our budget and style, and overall vision, I ended up with a POLAR OPPOSITE dress to what I had tried on beforehand. So I’d say wait.

I think you should wait.  Your dress is pretty, but you still have a long time to go until the wedding and may end up changing your mind about the type of dress you want.

It’s tempting to buy one of the first dresses you see, but if there is no real urgency, I think it’s better to wait and be sure of the dress you want.  Otherwise you may end up buying a few dresses, and having to resell them at a loss

It’s gorgeous and looks great on you, so keep it in mind, but I’d wait.
