I’m talking about making my own veil.
There is a girl I work with you did it and it cost her less than 20 bucks, oh and she has expressed how uncrafty she is and how she can’t sew to save her life. After talking with her she really gave me the idea that I should create my own veil.
I had an absolutely beautiful veil and made the ultimate mistake, I tried it on with my cat in the room, dumb.dumb.dumb. long story short she destroyed it. When I started looking for a replacement I couldnt find one I liked at all and thats when I found out my coworker made her own.
Any other non-sewing brides try this? Results???

What kind of veil did you have? I ask because I have a really pretty one that I bought earlier this year, and am wearing a borrowed veil instead.
If it is similar to what you had, to save you some time, you are more than welcome to have it! It is really pretty, and I hate that it is just sitting!
🙂 My mom offered to make my veil when we got engaged (especially after she saw how expensive the beaded, intricate ones I liked were.) She never got around to it though, LOL!

I’m kind of thinking along the same lines. Especially if you are wanting just a raw edged tulle viel. I mean, how hard can it be? It’s a length of tulle attached to a comb. As long as you can cut the shape out right to get the fullness you want, then I say go for it. It’s just crazy how expensive veils are. Even the simple ones are just outrageous. Let me know how it turns out if you make it. I’m seeing if I should take the plunge and try to make mine.

I had a Cathdral length drop veil.
It literally just looked like a bunch of tulle and I clipped it to my head with a hat pin. It seems like all I need to do is cut a giant amount of tulle which I can get 5 yards for less than 10 dollars.
It seems almost tooooo simple…

- Wedding: March 2011 - The Providence Biltmore
Mrs. Guinea Pig made hers. She has a tutorial- http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/04/19/to-tulle-y-done/#more-139325
As a sewing bee I can tell you that it is not difficult. You just need some basic hand stitching and you are good to go. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I attempted the veil making, major crash and burn. All I want is a giant piece of tulle to stick on my head! Why is it so freaking difficult!!! Only wasted about 10 bucks on the project but I think I’ll probably be giving this one up…
