Welllllll I got my dress today, and when I tried it on it was about 4-5″ too small in the bust! Which is a little insane, because the sample dress that was ONE size up was about 4-5″ too big! >:( We explained the situation at DB, and they said we should make an appointment with their alterations to see if it would be possible to get a corset back inserted, or if we would be better off exchanging it for a totally different dress.. because the dress I originally bought is now discontinued!Eek.
I’m not completely freaking out, because the worst thing that can happen is I have to get a different dress of equal or greater value at DB. Big deal, I can handle that.
So here’s the question.. How much should I expect to pay to get a corset back in my dress? I’ve heard DB alterations are outrageous, so I may take the dress to a different seamstress and find out from them if the corset is possible and if so, how much. I just want to know if I’m getting gouged or not 🙂

I am not sure how this compares to others, but my alterations seamstress in Lynnwood charges $95 to put in a corset back.

Elizabeth Parks in Tacoma is great! She’ll have you try the dress on and give you all of your options and tell you pricing before you commit to anything. She used to own The Wedding Bell bridal shop in Tacoma before turning to wedding dress tailoring full time out of her house. Good luck!!

My alterations lady said $125, others have said $150. I’d make them heavily discount the alterations though since they measured you and its their error.

I bought my dress at DB and it has a zipper back, I always wanted a corset so they had the alterations dept come over and they told me it would be about $200 to make the change. I’m planning to use a independent tailor, I hear they can be much better priced and I dont live near DB its 2plus hours away from me.
