Happened to me, too!  It worked out okay, though =)

Are you on BC?  You should be able to play around with the pills and essentially reschedule your period.  I have to look at the calendar and figure out if I need to do this.

I was giong to suggest the same thing as hotchildinthecity. If you’re not on BC but have no health limitations and want to start it, it’s easy to reschedule your period.

I’ve heard that you can skip the white pills for one month & skip your period all together. I’ve never done this, though…because my periods are SO irregular & I honestly don’t have a set time that I start & don’t start. I just hope & pray I’m not on my period when my wedding’s here! It’ll all work out okay though girl!

Yes, you can skip the placebo pills at the end, just be prepared for some light bleeding and/or spotting! My cycle is also very irregular, and it doesn’t like being knocked off, haha.

Just keep taking your regular pills (not the sugar pills) and you wont get your period. That’s what I did when we went to Mexico. I was supposed to have my period and obviously didn’t want it soI skipped it!

Another option…. There are oral contraceptives where you take active tablets for 3 months then 1 week of inactive tablets.  If you decide to take BC, you have to find a tablet that is right for you – my physician prescribed several before we found the one that worked well for me.  Not all BC comes packaged for extended us, soI use 4 packs (just the active tablets) then am off for one week.  I just skip the inactive tablets in the first three packs.

As a note, spotting is increased if you use BC in this way (but you don’t have your regular period for 3 months).

I would just keep taking BC. I take the 3-monthly packs and only menustrate every 3 months. It is GLORIOUS.

@bridetacular: Yeah, I would advise messing with them now and not just waiting until the wedding and skipping the white pills.  I tried that once and ending up just spotting anyway.  Map it out on a calendar and figure out how to re-work your cycle so you get your period before/after festivities.  It’s safe and easy.  You can even consult with your gyno just to check in.

I agree with doing it now since you may get breakthrough bleeding (up to a full period) from skipping the placebo pills in the pack.

I would speak with your doc on altering your BC pills frequency because I too would have had my period on my wedding week. My doc suggested to stop the pill a week earlier because with continuing with the pack there still is a chance of spotting. It worked like a charm. I got my period the week before the wedding.

Not to be a stickler or a jerk, but my “sugar” pills are green and my white ones that have the no-preggers drugs in them are at the beginning of the month :). Just to clarify – for those of us on cyclical pills those are the last color in your pack that you can skip.

I already talked to my gyno and she said go for it and enjoy my wedding!
