Good luck on your mission! I am not LDS, but I completely understand wanting to fulfill this commitment to yourself and the world prior to getting married.

I hope you get sent somewhere amazing πŸ˜‰

I’m LDS and I understand! That is very mature of you both. I know it will work out for you no matter what. When will you start the process? I wanna know where you get your call! πŸ™‚ Good luck!!

Wow, good luck! I completely understand this thought process. I am not Mormon, but my FH and I decided that we were going to focus on ourselves as individuals before getting married, and have been living separately (4 states away) to be on our own and build our careers.

More power to you, and good luck!

This sounds like something you both need, and be proud of yourself for realizing it before you got married! The mission sounds amazing, and I am sure you two will grow during it. Please, let us know where you will be going once you find out! I hope you have safe travels.

Also, I am really glad you are staying on the boards. πŸ™‚

I think wanting to sort out yourselves before marriage, including your relationship with the global community, is pretty universal! It sounds like you’re making a really mature choice, good luck on your mission.

@gangqinjia:  Awesome. That answers it pretty well πŸ™‚ I’m Christian, and I also believe in spreading the gospel whenever possible. It’s a great thing you two are doing, and I wish all the best for you!

@gangqinjia:  I AM LDS, and good for you deciding to serve a mission!

My friends who went on missions are starting to come back, and they are all SO happy they went!

It is going to be SUCH an incredible adventure for you.

I’m sorry that your relationship was having problems, but it’s wonderful that you both decided to serve!

I was converted by missionaries when I was 14. I hope you come home with TONS of wisdom and success stories!

While I’m not LDS or Christian and I disagree very strongly with proselytizing/
“spreading the word,” I think it’s very admirable that you’re both heading off separately to serve on missions to better yourselves. No matter what what happens, you’ll both come back from these missions with a different outlook on life, and I think that’s always a good thing. πŸ™‚

@gangqinjia:  While I don’t believe in religiion, I do think that taking the break is a very mature decision.  Regardless of why you are going, taking time to find yourself and mature before making a huge committment is very brave and wise.  If you were meant to be, you will be.  If not, you’ll have learned, travelled and grown, and you will be ready for a lifetime with someone else.

Good luck πŸ™‚
