So I was REALLY attentive.
First of all, it’s a close guy friend of mine and when I got their invite, I was shocked that we had the same color palette. Not offended or anything; just surprised. Green & Gray don’t seem that popular. Walked in and they basically had the same guestbook and escort card set up that I’d chosen! AND the centerpieces – which I LOVED that they didn’t do the same thing on every table – but some of them were nearly identical to what we’re doing! It was pretty crazy!!!!
The ceremony was beautiful and simple. They had a shortened receiving line (just bride/groom and both sets of parents) which I loved. We scrapped the idea of a receiving line because we didn’t want to spend an hour greeting people AND we only have 10 tables at the reception; easy for us to go to each table during the reception.
The reception space was beautiful. Lots and lots of twinkle lights, lighted paper lanterns, 7 ft rounds, and a mix of centerpiece ideas. There was an open bar (WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!) 😀 and a beautifully simple cake. I loved that they only sat at the head table for dinner then spent the rest of the time mingling with the crowd. His dad sang a song which was awesome and that was the only other thing that made me shed a tear (the first was my side convo with the groom; we found our mates right after each other and spent a lot of time gushing about them to each other). The food was simple but tasty and the cake was yummy!
My only quasi-complaint (because I had an awesome time) was that cocktail hour started at 5 and food started being served around 6:15 and there wasn’t any snacks/food items in between.
It was definitely cool to experience a wedding so close to mine and with people who’s concepts are so similar to mine. It was full of family, friends, fun and love. I am super excited for our big day! 13 more days!
