I had to put something on here, because Im just so excited! We responded to an ad for a dog free to a good home, because the family couldnt commit enough time for their dog. Her name is Tia,she is 3 years old and is a Japanese Akita, and all white. The owner said he would want any prospective new owners to meet her a few times before taking her,so the dog could get used to the new owners.
So we went to go see her tonight,a little nervous and not sure what to expect, but she is absolutley divine! She has been brought up around 4 kids and a cat and is so gentle its amazing. She doesnt snatch when taking a doggy treat off you,and responds to all basic commands.
So we are going to go meet her again on friday to make sure she is ok with us,and then hopefully she will be coming home to us on saturday! Im so happy,Darling Husband and I have been thinking about having a dog for a while now,and this just seems to be perfect, and its so nice to see her previous owner being so responsible about re-homing her!
Anyone else had any good news today?

Akitas are one of my favourite breeds, and she sounds like a lovely, well-socialized dog.

@kimbo89: So awesome. FI and I REALLY want another dog – particularly a puppy, but it’s tough living in an apartment. I want the puppy to be a puppy without worrying about it’s barking (people around here are complain happy). Congratulations!

Thanks guys,I will definately post pictures as soon as we get her home. She was a little wary of us at first, a little growling and grumbling, but the owner had warned us this is what she is like with strangers,as the breed overall is so protective of their families. So Im hoping that she settle well with us and is as un-stressed as possible!
@Rouquine: We live in an apartment too, which is something we were worried about, but we figured DHs work and my college schedule work out so that she will hardly ever be alone, and we live right next to a huge forest,so plenty of exercise-for all of us!
