We had it at my parents’ home. It was perfect! We had a great, laidback party with our wedding party and immediate family. So much fun!

We had our at my fiance’s parents house… we had about 40 people and it was great! I coulnd’t have asked for a better party. My family and his family met for the first time (my family lives out of town) and having it in their home was the perfect setting!

    We had an Engagement Picnic!
We had both our families and extended families meet for the FIRST time!

It was great! Easy going! Simple and we provided picnic and finger foods, had a volleyball net and kickball set up!

I loved how it turned out!
Even found a photographer for the day to take pics so none of us would have to worry about it!

We had ours at his dad’s house. It was in early November and it was strangly warm out so we were all outside during the afternoon. It was from 1pmish to about 5ish, light eats, drinks (both of our dad’s got smashed… hilarious!) and dessert. It was absolutely perfect and I couldn’t have asked for a better party and a way for both of our familes to met.

Now, on the other hand, Future Brother-In-Law & Future Sister-In-Law had there’s at her parents resturant in their banquet room and it was like going to a wedding reception. It wasn’t really what I imagined and enjoyed… Sunday night, sit down formal meal with seating chart and ice sculpture.

I just wanted something casual and easy. Even though we are having a formal wedding, I wanted this to be laidback and fun. The other option we had was a few hours at a resturant for apps and drinks. Time just got away from us to do that. I’d like the casual, mingling informal afternoon party we had. I still got to wear a supercute dress and fab shoes.

We didnt have one… between going on vacation, my birthday, the holidays and everything else, time just got away from us. By the time we thought about it, we figured every one already knows and its 5 months later so screw it.

I think we’re going to do a casual open house type event at my parents house.  We are long distance right now, and Fiance is coming to visit for my 30th birthday at the end of March – it’s the first time he’ll have been home since we got engaged.  Seems like the perfect time for a double party.  🙂  I thought a restaurant might be fun, but I just don’t think I can spare the expense.

We booked a private function room at a pub. It was a really nice renovated historic building, with catering and our own private bar.

We considered having the party at home, but it was held the day before my sister’s birthday and I wanted our family to be able to enjoy her day, not spend it cleaning up the house.

We had an engagement party last week just for close family members at a restaurant, nothing fancy it was pretty laid back.  The actual “party” with our friends is in a couple months and will be at FI’s parents house and I think it might just be a BBQ or something.  We don’t need to go extravagent on it, just wanting to get some people together to hang out.

We had ours at my dads house, but we are used to entertaining here, and have a pretty big space for it.  A lot of people do it at restaurants though, and that would have been my choice if we didn’t do it at home.  I loved my home party though, it’s just a lot of preparation and clean up afterwards… so if you’re not into that, the restaurant would be best, or sometimes even a hall is cheaper than a restaurant and very nice!
