I’m so excited! We are going to plan out everything tonight. With my stress levels just being crazy through the roof. Wedding planning has been stressful. So I’m saying F all the traditions. My crazy aunt can keep the broom. My mexican nana can bite me. Fi’s brother can just go take his drama elsewhere. My health comes first. So we are saying screw the stress. This wedding is for us. We ARE eloping.
And we just both think that this is so much better. We will only loose about two grand in total. I’m so excited! 🙂 we’re going to hash out everything tonight. We are thinking a Maine or Hawaii elopement. But who knows maybe y’all have better ideas! I’ve never felt so good about a decision in my life other than saying yes to my FI!!

Yay to no stress! Congratulations!

I wish I was that courageous to stand up to my mom. Do what is best for you. 2K is so much better than the cost of a regular wedding!

sumshine.dawn: YAY!! Hawaii sounds beauitful! I know you said you’re in SoCal right? Have you thought about the bahamas? It’s a little cheaper to get there than Hawaii

Congratulations! Great choices for elopement destinations! If the decision feels right in your heart, it’s probably the right one. From your sense of relief, you’re clearly making the right choice for you and your FI! HAVE FUN!

sumshine.dawn: Congrats on the decision! I hated wedding planning as well, so much stress caused by family and friends and it just no longer felt like we were planning our special day. When we looked at eachother and said, “let’s just elope” it was the best feeling in the world. We eloped in Alaska, but we love cold weather and nature so it worked out perfect for us. Hawaii and Maine are both beautiful options, you can’t go wrong no matter what you decide. I look forward to seeing more updates as you continue to plan your amazing elopement! 🙂

Congratulations!! We eloped and it was SO fun and intimate and we have no regrets. I hope you love your elopement just as much!
I’ve never been to Hawaii but Maine is pretty close to me (Nova Scotia). That’s a pretty big difference in temperatures this time of year! Do you want hot, or cold and snowy? Would you do things like snowshoeing, skiing, renting a cabin with a wood stove, if you did Maine? Cause that would be damn romantic!

Awesome! Congratulations, sounds like so much fun! Sômetimes it feels good just to go with your wishes as a couple only.

acglandorf: I’m an ex so cal bee. I live in Massachusetts now. My entire family is in so cal so we ate there 4 times a year for various family things.
jennifer242: yes. I’m so excited.
BrightGreen: we live about 5 hours south of the Maine border. So we know how cold it can get. But there’s something romantic about the thought of snow shoeing and skiing in Maine.
cate23: but where to go is the big question.
anpjlrr71009: they all can bite me lol. I literally cried from relief.
truthah: thanks 🙂

Congrats hon! We eloped too and though our families were not happy, it showed them that we make the decisions for our marriage and not them. We wanted to have a wedding at first but the cost and interference was too awful.
As for where to elope, it all depends what kind of backdrop and weather you want. Hawaii sounds great but it is expensive. I don’t know if cost is a consideration for you. If it is, why not look into Jamaica for a destination elopement? Maine is beautiful if you want a winter setting.
