You called it, waiting bees! SO proposed last night! We checked in at Buhl Mansion (or the castle, as I kept calling it) and spent some time relaxing in our room. They served a tea in the parlor at 4:00 and then we spent some time wandering the grounds and taking lots of pictures. At 6:00 we headed off to our dinner reservation.
While we were gone, the staff at Buhl filled up our jacuzzi and left us a dozen roses, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries, turned on some soft, romantic music, and spread silk rose petals all over the floor. This was part of an add-on package SO (or Fiance, I should say!) had booked, so I already knew it would happen. I just didn’t realize what was coming after!
When we got back, I went into the bathroom to check out the jacuzzi (I was very excited about it, haha). I came back into the bedroom, intending to say something like, “This is awesome!” but SO (who had his back to me) turned around, revealed the ring box in his hand, and then flipped it open while getting down on one knee! I had to take a moment to cover my face and say, “Oh, my god, no you’re not!” I was so surprised and I had butterflies like crazy!
When I finally looked back at him, he looked me in the eyes and said softly, “HeyKaraoke, will you marry me?” All I could do was nod. I barely looked at the ring — I couldn’t get over how amazing it was to actually have him ask me that question! I got down on the floor with him and threw my arms around his neck and cried a little bit. Then he slipped the ring on my finger, and it was MY ring — the one the jeweler said had been sold! I kept hugging him like crazy and saying, “I can’t believe you did that!” I even, at one point, asked him if he was really sure he wanted to do this, haha! Of course, he said yes. 🙂
It was lovely and wonderful. It was exactly how I wanted — just the two of us, alone in a beautiful room (in a castle!), no long, flowery speech, no audience — just him and me and the question. Absolutely perfect and wonderful!
I don’t have any pics yet, but I will post some later — I just had to come share the story with you all! 😀
