Oh I am so so happy!! Last night it happened, my wonderful fiance (eek, still can’t get used to that word) Graham asked me to be his wife!! And of course, said yes!!
As my previous posts, I was thinking that the day was coming soon, I had been getting impatient and he had been reassuring me for quite some time that he would be proposing to me, I just had to be patient.
I’m in the UK and it is late Sunday morning here as I type this. He was being very vague about plans for the weekend, he had suggested a few things that were happening locally and so I thought he might be proposing to me at one of those events, but it was just to throw me off guard, he really did keep everything a complete surprise!!
He told me to get ready for 5.30pm Saturday, and that we were going out for dinner, I thought that it was quite early to be going out but went along with it, so got myself ready, then a taxi turned up just before 6pm and took us into town. It dropped us off at an Italian restaurant which I have never been to before, I am half Italian and so I love the food, it was really nice for him to think of this especially as he is so fussy with his food and isn’t so keen on Italian! We had an amazing meal! After the meal, we took a walk through town and then (as I am currently recovering from a sprained ankle and finding too much walking to be quite painful) he asked me if I wanted to sit down on a bench, when we were walking through the Peace Gardens (a park with fountains etc – if any UK Bees know Sheffield, that’s where we live!) He then started smiling insanely, got out a little brown box and simply said, “Will you marry me?” , and then got up again promptly as he had knelt down on something sharp.. lol! I started to cry and said yes, of course!! We then had a hug and I just couldn’t believe it had happened. We called our parents who were all very happy for us.
I felt a little emotional as we buried my Granddad only last week and I really wished I could have called all my grandparents too to tell them – I only have one grandparent left now, my Nan, who has very advanced dementia so I can’t really tell her! 🙁
Graham then surprised me even further by getting some theatre tickets out of his pocket, for a musical “Tonight’s the Night”, which is based on the music of the singer Rod Stewart, so we headed just round the corner to the theatre, it was absolutely brilliant!!
It was a wonderful night and I am so happy that I am going to be Graham’s wife! Watch this space for wedding plans!
To all of you who are waiting, if you have had the talk with your partner and he has reassured you that it will happen, then JUST BE PATIENT!! It will, he is likely waiting for the perfect moment.
