My SIL’s cat is named Miso after Miso soup, so you are in good company :-).

Make sure to have a litter box and litter, GOOD cat food (not meow mix or another awful brand that has ash and lots of by-products as filler (yep, they actually put ASH in the food). Some toys are good. A carrier to be able to have her in the car safely to bring her home and also for vet trips, etc. Water bowl.A good rug/carpet cleaning spray in anticipation of any accidents the kitten might have.

Cat’s don’t have as much “stuff” as dogs, so there’s less to get.

Congrats! Very exciting!

I’d add a scratching pad or post (please don’t have your cat declawed; you can buy a clipper to trim kitty’s claws).

You’ll want a variety of toys that kitty can play with by herself and with you.

I agree on avoiding the cheapie food. I always read the ingredients label before choosing a cat food.

Congrats on getting a cat! I agree with the items PP’s have listed. Make sure that when you buy a scratching post, you get a nice tall one. Most cats like to really stretch out to scratch, so it needs to be taller than them when they are standing up with paws extended.

Ah, yes! How could I have forgotten a scratching post?! Haha. We just have the cardboard kind.

well i can tell you what my cat loves. he loves the cardboard scratching pads. he’s a weird cat and does not like the upright ones. we found some good wet food but i don’t know how easily available it is. it’s called BFF (best feline friend). we also give him nutro natural choice dry food. he loves feather toys more than anything and couldn’t care less about catnip. i second what all the PP’s said too.

D’aw, Sushi is an adorable name! I love love love grey kittens. I remember being in high school and stumbling upon one in the hallway one night when all the students were gone and I was cleaning up after an assembly. Turns out the mom took up residence outside the school doors, and when someone opened the door one of the kitties stumbled in! Super adorable.
