It’s been two weeks and I still can’t believe it! To be honest, I should have seen it coming, but we’ve been so busy and I’m glad I was taken by surprise in the end.
Mr Bee popped the question just after school holidays began – we’re both secondary teachers – and he later told me that this was so we could have some time to celebrate before going back to work. On the Saturday night, we had friends over for dinner (biggest hint – he is the most disorganised person ever, but on this occasion he’d clued them in). Mr Bee stood up, and I thought he was going to make a little toast and thank our friends for coming, but instead he drops to one knee and pulls out the ring – I was so surprised that I told him to ‘get fd’ before saying yes! It was so nice to have our friends there with us to celebrate after I’d called my family. Later that night he told me he’d been so nervous about everything falling into place, and about me finding out his big secret.
The most beautiful moment was realising that he’d modelled my ring off my mother’s ring, and had the same jeweller make it. He’d also asked my parents for their blessing, which I though was a sweet touch. Yay for being engaged!! I’m so thrilled to be marrying my beautiful man 🙂
