Wow, it’s taken me awhile to write this post! Nobody warns you about just how drained you are after a wedding! We got married Sunday, May 24th and went to New Orleans the day after. The whole thing was amazing! Not totally perfect, but amazing.
First, for the wedding, the weather was great! It had been a hot and sunny 80+degrees the days leading up to the wedding, which, while I love that weather, it just doesn’t work well with a big ol wedding dress for me, or tuxes for the guys! But, magically on our day, the temp dipped to a very pleasant 70degrees (I wasn’t hot, and I never got cold, which is big for me lol) and it was overcast, so I wasn’t all squinty in the pictures! It was a slightly windy, but not too bad. It’s not like I was eating my veil the whole ceremony, but I did have to wrestle it into cooperation a couple of times :p The ceremony went by so fast! I’m not sure how long it actually took because there was a bit of delay. I had asked my mom to make sure my sister got the wedding band that was in a red bag, but my mom never told her so they were scurrying around looking for the ring after the parents had been seated. I guess a few people had thought the hold up was because one of us were having cold feet or something. But, they got it and it went fine. The flower girls didn’t want to go down the isle so one of their dad’s had to hold his daughter’s hand all the way down, which was just fine by me. They were super cute anyway! After the ceremony FLEW by, we rode off in a horse and carriage so we could have just a couple of minutes alone and came back to pick up others so we can get a few more pictures taken. We had many compliments on our ceremony and I too thought it was amazing. The reception didn’t go off perfectly as planned (apparently people were drinking the glasses of champagne like it was just a drink, instead of saving it for a toast, so we ran out of champagne, just had the sparkling apple juice left) and somehow, the kids’ toys to keep them entertained never made it to them. But, overall, it went great. People also LOVED the cupcakes! A friend of ours is getting married June 2010 and his fiance told us that now he wants cupcakes at his wedding too. I’m so glad I had upgraded to the jumbo ones!
The honeymoon went wonderfully as well! I thought we were going to be rained in the whole time, but we didin’t see a drop! My husband(!) loved the New Orleans food and had gumbo I think every day. They have awesome Strawberry Daquiris too π Well, there is one place we went to that neither of us liked. The House of Blues. We didn’t go for a show, just the restuarant. The aesthetics of the place was nice, but the food was so not worth the money! I won’t go into details because this post is long enough without it, but you can always message me if you care to know. We went on an airboat tour and held a baby alligator named Fred, and I got sunburned. We also went on a plantation tour, as well as just walked around the French Quarter and looked at shops and stuff. We just kind of took our time and enjoyed ourselves without over planning our days or anything. I will say that we aren’t very good honeymooners though! We were just so tired in the evenings, I don’t think we were up past 11pm any of the days, which we hardly do weeknights at home!
Anyway, here are a few pictures! These were from off of my camera and I’m waiting for the photog’s pics still. Nobody took my camera during the ceremony or reception, so I don’t have pictures from that yet.
basically the only pictures of my train, and it’s not even stretched out π Photog didn’t get any either
actually my Mother-In-Law helping me in. Took a lot of work lol
